I had no problem asking Alan to do anything for me when I asked nicely especially doing minor repairs and adjustment. Wondering why he turned you away?

Hi Tofuman, although I been there maybe 2 times but never send my bike to him before. This is my first time sending in and he gave me bad impression already.

Thanks MJ for the tips, didn't know Ban Hock Hin service big bikes. Last time they sell scooters only right?

@biker20: Hey dude, if you've not had any luck with motorcycle shops, might I suggest you check out Ban Hock Hin @ Defu Lane: http://www.banhockhin.com

I put them through an interview process and toured their workshop before allowing them to work on my GS... and was pleasantly surprised by the service I received. They're a top-notch facility and are very professional about what they do.

They did a permanent (internal patch) repair of my CB750's tyre and it's been holding air very well.

If you plan on heading down, please look for SAMY or FREDERICK. Samy is the workshop supervisor and Frederick is a Maintenance Coordinator. Please mention that you were recommended by the BMW-GS rider (they know me by my middle name, Peter) and they will take good care of you.

Cheers;

MJ

Most of the sole proprietorship bike mechanics are eccentric. They are not rude or anything, my take is that they get a lot of frivolous customers and hence are wary of new (untested) faces. Alan is a friendly chap and will banter once he knows you. Perhaps it was just a bad day at work. In my books the most professional BMW mech around.

Cheers

Thank you all for your advice, maybe it's my wrong judgement of him or it's just the day of the month for him or just my luck. Anyway, I managed to solve the problem myself already.

Yes, I have been to LTA's website and I have read all the info there. What I am asking is anyone knows the amount that will SECURE a FBG series single or double digit. What do the motorshops usually bid for such numbers?

single digit price can be anything above $5K..i remember FZ1 has a price tag of more than $10 K

double digit price anything from $1 K onwards..i got my double digit FBC @ $1010, my double digit FD came with the bike when i bought it in 1992 - a gift from the bike shop when i bought a rd125

Wow...your bike shop is very generous. I think the successful bid by bike shop is a closely guarded secret, we only get to know what price people are selling the number plate, but not the price they got at. Your double digit number plate at $1010, was it XX or XY number?

XY kinda series...didnt know the significant of that XY and thought it was nothing special until someone told me so, both my bikes are on XY..try to bid for my car to have XY but was unsuccessful even with 5K bid..end up settle for YX

fyi i already when to mah to check the price all they had is 1 digit and it cost $20k for loois u had to buy with bike start from $7k for a cub or scooter. then if u intend to trnsf the number to your bike just prpare for another $1300 for retention. unless it is a new bike just pay for trnsfr fee cause a few hundred..for me not worth just make LTA more richer lol

It all depends on which number plate you are looking at, like the A series of course it will be expensive. If it's the FÂ¥ something like that will not be worth that much. Sometimes also depends on the mood of Mr Lee at Looi's he can sell you a number at give away price. Just depends on your luck. Retention on an registered bike cost $1300 new bike cost $100.

To you and me it's not worth but to others with disposal income it's nothing to them.

Cheers
