Yes very poisonous indeed. Last there was 1 sales now there are 2 guys combine power very potent.

Guys just to check any of u facing this problem about your fuel gauge level for GS adventure. I had this problem for few weeks. Today when i on my bike it stated half tank after i park the bike for a little ride and it stated left 1 bar then after few kilometers it stated 1/2 tank back. Otw to work i just top up for curiousity it show 3/4 tank and a few km it show 1 bar wtf...... Really make me confuse so im now just back of mileage to be safe

Hi BigDaddy, I have this problem with my R1150GS too and I was told this is a common problem by friends and PML. I was ever told even if I change the fuel gauge sensor the issue will come back again. So no point changing. My 1 year old 1200GS also showing same intermittent issue. So I've have more or less got just to this issue and I'm using the mileage to monitor my fuel consuming. Although a bit troublesome but it's more accurate. Hope this help, but of course you can try confirm this with PML. Let me know what's their reply after more 7 years.

My 1150GS also having the same problem, just use your trip meter to monitor your fuel comsumption.

I think will void...service with them till warranty ends. So get ready ur wallet ... :evil:

 

The last time i checked wif PML they say as long as u do not meddle wif the engine, u can always go ahead wif servicing other than PML...

Last time I had this problem with my R1150GS also.

 

This was advised by my mechanic:

1 Remove the tank

2 Drain the petrol

3 Remove the fuel pump which also include the fuel sensor unit

4 Clean the sensor unit as it may be contaminated with bad petrol. Best you use alcohol to clean it. I noticed when cleaning the sensor there's a layer of black remains.

 

Do be very careful when you remove the fuel pump try not to strip the screw. This is for the 1150s.

If we compare BMW bikes w other bikes based on price, we can forget the comparison.

 

Am riding a RT1100, the look and feel is good. Problem is, I don't hv time for touring, thus the bike is a complete waste with me and I'm looking at letting go.

My 08 12GSA develop the same defect during the warranty period.

Send in to PML and they replaced the Fuel Sensing Strip inside the fuel tank.

Job description is what toufuman said in post #14182 for the 1150.

For the 12GSA PML need to perform a calibration check after the Fuel Sensing Strip were replaced.

They refuelled in a few measured amount of fuel into the tank and update the bike CPU to reg the required different indication on the fuel gauge.

 

Been good since the Fuel Sensing Strip replacement.
