whats its like to buy from shop for a 2nd hand bike...

i kinda don't have alot of biker friends. and im kinda lost, really lost in the bike scene. if say, i bring along my parents to accompany me go quote around or buy a 2nd hand bike, would the motor tiam still like see rider new den try chop prices even if i bring along my parents??

 

which is more better, bring an experienced friend or bring parentz. go with friends must die2 follow when they free. if with my parents, they don't really know about bike coz im the only one in the family who got 2b.

When look see look see can go alone, ok to ask questions.

But when interested and 12 buy, then an experienced biker (relative or friend) is a plus point.

Parents who know nothing about bikes may be more a liability than useful.

Similar to your situation TS, I also first gen rider (No bike friends, non biking family) and wanted to buy from shop because want to take hire purchase.

 

Made my way to the valley of axes (Bukit Merah , opposite Queenstown shopping center) and got a bike. Overall a bit ex, but no feeling of getting chopped because the shop i went to was upfront and open about costs.

 

You might wanna try Universal Motors, the same shop I went to. The sales staff (David) was friendly, open, and non pushy. Check it out...

i went to the shop at blk 245 at bukit merah there, ask an uncle in the shop there if i can ask for quotation for a bike. den he look at me one kind and jus say NO and like dun wnt to patronise me...

 

maybe bcos i look like a 14 yrs old, and no money....guess how i feel leh kena rejected like that. anw, life have to move on....

Its like that lor! Go bike shop, see bike and pay money. Haha.

 

For me, everytime my mother want to follow me to the bike shop. I always dont want. You go there, wear like not so rich clothes and act like blur c0ck. Then ask alot of things. You can see whether the bike shop trying to cheat you. But make sure you do your homework first.

 

Like for me, tell you the truth, i didnt have many rider friends. I can count with fingers from one hand. But lucky that time NS. So i will ask the regular, others NS boys and reservist. Keep asking them. Some will help you alot because their passion was in bikes. Most will get super irritated.

 

I went to quite a few shops along Changi Rd. They really wanna chop me. One shop, wanna sell 17 year old RXZ for nearly the price of a new RXZ. In the end, got my bike from a small shop along that road.

 

I strongly encourage you to bring an experienced friend. Bo pian if follow him when he is free. He is armed with the knowledge. For my friend, he was a regular. I treated him to eat lunch outside and dinner at my home. You bring friend who is experienced, he can listen to engine, help you check the general condition of the bike and argue for price and freebies. When argue for freebies, dont think too much for freebies but think more of the bike like warranty how long and everything.
