actually i kana something like this before

i was just sitting below the void decks talking to my friends, and 2 jokers from don't know what HSA or NEA want to do a full spot check on us and our belongings.

so i asked for their pass, however the fellow showing me the pass seems to be hiding something. he just showed it to me for 2-3 secs, and when i want to hold it for a proper read, he said no need to touch his IC and read it, just do what he says.

then i refused, he tried to play punk with me.. then i punk him back by really calling the police after i threatened, but those 2 fags still refused to back off.

in the end the police said they needed more than 45 mins to reach as it was hari raya so i just told the police no need to come already.

so i just continue siting there and ignoring those 2 officers, occasionally talk back at them, in the end they couldn't take it, the just left without doing anything

So These 2 jokers don't even have police powers? Geez ...even police inspect bag also need probably cause...else ask them get a warrant for pte. property.

U got a look at their IDs? Do contact the relevant dept /branch of service ....we need to stop "officials" absuing their authority. I will not stop at just blowing it off as a stupid encounter...I make sure they pay for what they've done. But that's just me.

Nobody come out and said "gotcha"?

Jokes aside, think the first thing is to confirm whether you are travelling at 70km/h or not. I find those 2B bikes meter not accurate. Prehaps your 70 and his 70 are not the same 70 :)

even if its not accurate if the so call police wants to overtake also should do on lane 1...

center lane u travel according to speed limit bo salah one...only lane 1 consider hogging.

So he pulled you over to warn you? And was he asking you to drive faster or slower??

What was he riding/driving?

police totally has no right when the vehicle is in moving "motion".. Unless you jam brake in front of him..

can describe more details on the whole incident? who is he? what pass? what type of warning, verbal? asked u to travel faster or slower? did u stopped at shoulder n talked to him or just passed by? what is he driving/riding? wearing uniform?

I'm extremely curious as well..

huh flashing u a pass n probably not police? even if police who's off-duty, they have no right to book or give warning for such small incident(correct me if i'm wrong). i'm guessing he's prob a impatient driver who wants to find trouble, just be-careful with this kind of ppl, small incidents like these can turn out to be road rage.

yup yup.. this kinda of issues, simple.. take down photos and videos, call up the police.. not 999..

Hmm, with regards to the incident, you are absolutely in no wrong as it is legally correct to be riding at lane 2/3 at speeds not exceeding 70Km/h in KPE and the fella in question was wrong to cut into your lane abruptly as it might cause an accident.

However, there is a complication. The fella is either a off duty policeman or a person impersonating a police officer. In either case, he is acting like a hooligan and the latter being a criminal offence. An off duty policeman possessed the same authority as a civilian but is able to act in the event of a crime. He cannot give you a formal warning without carrying proper identifications, unless it is an advice. If he is aggressive in any manner, you could complain him for intimidation.

When I was still schooling in a secondary school, I was manhandled by an "off duty police officer" for causing trouble in a park.

I was riding around in a mountain bike with my friends when this jogger suddenly grabbed me on my arm, nearly causing me to fall off the bike. He said he was an "off-duty police officer" and warned me to stay off the park. Luckily there are 2 constables on patrol nearby and this incident has caused them to take note and walk towards us.

Upon seeing those constables walking towards us, the jogger immediately let go of me and told the officers that I was being a menace in the park. However, when I told the policemen about what I was doing and mentioned about the jogger being an "off-duty policeman", the jogger told me to shut up.

Well, what happened next was kinda hilarious. The jogger was arrested for impersonation and one of the policeman took down my statement at the nearby police station. The look on the fella's face was priceless.

haha. that's the correct thing to do.. nowadays alot of "fake" police or those in NS gotten into police thinking that they can play with police pass..

One of such incident even "jio" my younger brother come down from bus and fight, say "see what see, not happy come down bus say". When my brother come down, he flash his card within 2~3 seconds and say he from SIxx, and he wan to inspect my brother.

*reason for asking my brother going down, no one will stomp him flashing his card, bus stop would have 0~2 people at late night. He can abuse my younger brother.. I'm thinking of going to camp him at his bus stop thru.. asking all my friends there and "chill" heehee.. You know de lah.. riders sometime have no where else to go other than going somewhere to chill.. =P

i experienced an incident with an off duty police..

was at lane 2 at TPE (80-90kph) IIRC, then he was behind me kept flashing high beam..

then i moved to lane 1.. he just followed.. i move back to 2, he followed..

I jammed brakes then he then did too..

I went out at Lentor, he sped up in front of me and flash me his warrant card (i know it's a warrant card as then my friend had the same one too), he was with his family in the car..

I did not think much of the incident until during my BMT, a love letter from TP came..

I was charged dangerous driving and was fined $200 + 6pts demerit..

I ended up in the interview room, and explained the whole scenerio..

I ended with "I was doing nothing wrong, but the police shouldnt misuse/abuse his powers.."

after a few weeks, the IO called and say I dun need to pay fine and no pts will be deducted..

then she told me to ride so that i would not hog lane.. har??????

if you are travelling at the speed limit at lane 2.. you are not in wrong.. unless there's emergency vehicles behind you that you should give way..

if anyone would want to overtake you, they will do so from the right, and sometimes left..

if you remember his car license plate, just write a complaint to TP..

I had friends that install HID and gotten complaint, TP just send him a letter to go inspection..

be a true Singaporean, complain.. haha..

yeah.. for TS's case, I would complain to police put up a statement, and with the statement, go to TP and report.. with that person's ID... and name..

I'm not sure about Singapore, but in most countries, you are legally allowed to inspect the officer's identification before you follow his instructions. It would be especially useful in this case.

Of course, there's no need to get rude or loud about it, just ask politely to see their identification. If they refuse, you should not be obliged to listen to them. Note down their vehicle number and any other details you can (including a physical description of the person) and lodge a report with the TP. Or if the so-called-officer gets intimidating, call the police on the spot and ask to verify his identity. Your doubts should be treated as legitimate if the person is not in uniform and not driving a marked police vehicle. Even with the right credentials, as has been mentioned here, an off-duty police officer doesn't have the authority to pull you over for nothing. This is bullying and harassment, make your voice heard!

non-uniform should be able to verify.. like Pubs and all that.. those undercover, they will allow you to see fully and they normally doesn't come in 2.. they come in 1 whole group.. :)

yeah... tat's what I'm thinking.. Police trying to say I'm police infront of their gf, hao lian attitude..

Kindly read thru at least the intro section first before decide to post any comments.... thanks...

actually i would call 999, someone intimidating me and prob faking as police counts as emergency case right? unless i got the local NPP number on hand, then i call them for faster reaction.

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere.

However ask yourself, do you want to fall at 120km/h or 60km/h?

The issue might not be road hogging but rather the present-day definition of "cruising speed". Does anyone on the road today really obey the speed limit?

90 on a 70kph main road is typical, likewise for 110 in a car on the expressway.

Since everyone moves at that speed, anything slower becomes a target for road discourtesy.

The reason why TP prob didn't take further action is because the "officer" who stopped you is also reckless and driving dangerously. The guy should just back off and follow the traffic condition.

From my understanding, all lanes in KPE or any other expressway is permitted to travel to a max of 70km.hr, 80km/hr or 90km.hr for some others. All lanes.

1st lane is meant for EMERGENCY VEHICLES & overtaking. But all is within speed limit.

If anyone who books you & is not in a GOV vehicle,

1) ask to see a warrant card,

2) call the uniform guys to come down.

i believe even off duty TP also cannot anyhow instruct anyone to stop or request to give way...

i think u missed the point TS is in kpe, which there're cameras all over the place. speed limit is 70, so unless u want risk getting a ticket, i'll advise crusing speed of 68-70.

speed limit is 70-80, there's no 90.

only emergency vehicles or police/tp can speed if they have some urgent things which they must justify, they cannot speed when on patrol or there's no emergency.

I think he was making a general statement about expressway speed limits, which tend to be 70/80/90, varying from place to place
