Hi all!

I've finally signed up for 2B lessons at CDC, and I've been looking at various beginner bikes. I too had a crush on the Vara when I saw it I've enjoyed reading the posts on this thread, though there are too many pages to read everything! So here are a couple of questions that I still have about the vara:

1. How suitable is the vara for a new rider? What are the issues that I should be aware of in terms of handling, riding, maintenance, depreciation, etc?

2. I noticed that the models after 2007 have some seemingly significant improvements, e.g. to the engine.

a. Are the improvements really that significant?

b. What's the difference in price between, say, a used 06 and a used 07?

In other words, is it worth getting the new model, or would the old model be good enough?

1)how suitable in wad sense?its heavier than ur average 2b bike at 150kg.original handlebar quite heavy(for me).im still a bit unstable at slow speeds.. im 50 kg..its a super comfy ride..ur pillion will like it.original spares are damn ex.if u dun skive on maintenance, it wont give u problems i think haha..

2a)07 has EFI,older models use carb.fuel gauge..if u r into technology, go for it.i have been looking for the difference in fuel consumption btwn the models but to no avail.as they say, its how u ride.

for those w/o mainstand, how do u guys lube ur chain?roll it back and forth?use a jacK?which is the best IYO? i scared it topple over laa...

anywayz i wtb a mainstand and tankbra.any1 wanna sell pm me...

a best way to lube your chain without breaking your back is to ask your fren to help you. One person tilt the bike one side, the other person lube. another way is to go to any bike shop and borrow their jack. jus pay them $2 for coffee.

If you want, you can also buy the scott oiler for ard $170-185 at Motorworld and you can let the mechanism lube for you as you ride your bike. Just top up the lube when its low....

With so many vara 125 come and go, I think its high time we have an update on the vara 125 /Outriderz contact list.

Contact list is for easy reference and future meet-ups. Furthermore after saying so many His, Hellos and Byes, frankly, I still do not know who is who.

Think previously there was a list but hard to find. So guys, do help me out by adding in . If you are not comfortable putting in your bike number or contact number just put 'N/A' .

For now , I shall update whatever I can. (Those Ive put in, pls edit the 'Pending' portion or if any details that is wrong).

Kindly update the last post of whoever has posted so as not to omit anybody's name out. Tks. On and off, I will update the list whenever anyone's name is being accidentally omitted by anyone.

Once the list is almost complete, I will be compiling it in Nickname's alphabetical order for easier reference
