Wah! you were a previous pulsar rider right? You should have waited for P200NS man, its a refreshed model, latest technology. FZ16 is quite dated already. Waiting to see what Yamaha India's is going to produce to counter the P200NS. hehehe...

Seng Kwang. They do a lot of custom fabrication works. See here.

Hi all,anyone here have lubang for the K&N air filter. WY over charge and unique price quite reasonable. Just wanna know if i can get cheaper alternative here.

anyone thinking to let go fz16?

im thinking to get one next month.

cant find any 2nd hand at any shop.

 

It's a hot fav bike now. Not so easy to find used ones in the shops.

haha yes i did. but sadly pulsar only dominated by Universal so its quite jialat for parts. more headache even if the tech new..

Sorry if you got offended. But the reason I said it is dated is because the technology is old.

 

Consider this:

FZ16 is a 2 valve engine when most latest bikes all have 4 valve, including pulsar 200NS, FZ150i and even the Spark135.

 

FZ16 rear drum brake when most modern bike rear disc brake, including pulsar 200NS, FZ150i

 

FZ16 has normal 267mm front disc brake, whereas P200NS has 280mm petal disc with floating caliper

 

FZ16 is 5 gear when both pulsar 200NS, FZ150i

are 6 gear.

 

FZ16 is air cooled pulsar 200NS, FZ150i and Spark is liquid cooled.

 

 

FZ16 is 14BHP whereas P200 is 23BHP.

 

Actually I dont blame FZ16 for being dated, this model came out in 2008 in India so it is 4 yrs old compared to Pulsar 200NS, which is just launched. I also said I am waiting to see what Yamaha India produces to counter the P200NS, that will be a good competition.

Don't be mistaken. I feel that there is still justice in (buying) the FZ16.

One thing beats all the above - maintenance. One less thing = one less problem.

 

Look how well the porsche air-cooled engines worked. They were superb in long or short distance drives. No worrying of the fan or radiator breaking down.

 

Having 2 valves means less fuel goes in and better consumption.

 

Of cos a 6th gear is better. In cost savings, 5 gears beats it. Spark has only 4 gears.

 

Drum brakes brake better as there is more contact surface compared to discs. Just that it doesn't cool as fast. Aesthetically, of cos the discs look better.

 

How many bikes are petal discs now? Not many.

 

FZ has got:

Yoshi available for install.

Tons of accessories.

Fat tyres.

ST model is an option.

 

No pun intended.

You think FZ16 parts are gonna be any cheaper? If you think so you are in for a shock. Its not pulsar parts expensive, Singapore, in general is expensive. FZ16 also for original parts you need to go back to agent, dont tell me you can get it at Ah Boy, haha.

 

I would say Universal motors is quite fair in pricing and their mechanics are very friendly and try to solve the issue by spending a lot of time and somethings they dont even charge,extra. I am not working for UM, but I have a pulsar and I am very happy with UM's service. They have never made me wait for any parts no matter how small or insignificant the part is. Some people bring their own parts from India, yet UM will not mind and just charge labour. I doubt whether you will get an agent as good as UM. Anyways good luck :)
