Hello all.

Just discovered this worrying problem few days ago with my phantom.

The most distinctive problem is the engine sound..the engine sound goes like it is going to die off on the road

Initially this problem came to my attention when I input very small amount of fuel to travel in slow traffic and in between vehicles. The engine sounded like going to die off, so i input more fuel panickedly..but very dangerous coz traffic very slow..

But i still not sure whats the problem..so I tried inputting very lil' fuel on neutral gear to see if its the fuel handle's problem but don't have that sound.

Today travelling on the fast lane, a car lane-changed into my lane. i brake and go again. Same, during the micro-fuel input, the engine like going to die off..i had to zua more fuel again..

Then reaching my home, I came to a right turn at traffic junction. I need not stop coz no red light and cars incoming, so i brake and turn..exiting the turn, i accelerate..the engine like going to die off..totally cannot accelerate..got 1 car behind me @@''

I think I going bike shop to check leh but i dont know whats the problem..how to say?

Could be fuel input got problem? or engine cannot properly receive fuel? Not clutch's fault right?

TS. What is this micro fuel you talking about? Are you like opening the tank and imputing fuel inside or are you playing with your fuel cock to limit the amount of fuel going to your carburettor?

input fuel = throttle

micro fuel = open small throttle

TS: sounds like u need some servicing done to check on parts like spark plug, carburettor, etc. if the problem is consistent, i.e. the engine always seems like dying off whenever u open only a little but of throttle, it makes troubleshooting much easier. :goodluck:

Uhm, maybe you can downshift first before throttling? Going slow (20, 30 km/h) in Gear 5, definitely will feel like engine dying!

wow unique language used..

micro-fuel input = open throttle a little bit?

fuel handle = throttle grip?

hope to learn more from this user..

Wah, got small fuel and big fuel? lol

Anyways, some possible issues:

1. Trying to go low speed at high gear -> Some bikes with small high revving engines (esp 2 strokers) produce very little torque at low revs. You have to downshift to keep within optimal powerband.

2. Engine keeps stalling at low revs? If you can't downshift then rev and half clutch.

3. Some issue with idling too low.

4. Fuel system problem. Old bikes with rusty fuel tanks need in-line fuel filter to prevent flakes of rust from clogging up the carb.

Lastly, what make of bike is this? Need to see if rider issue or machine issue, first of all.

Try tuning the carb first, maybe someone go di siao siao your carb then not enough fuel is flowing from your tank to your engine.

I read and I feel - your throttle cable may be chewed up or loose. Usually happens when you are on low speed - your clutch free play messed with, resulting in a friction point too close to the handle bar resulting in your bike being restricted, check looseness of the clutch adjuster nut.

Check fuel pipe and battery then move down the list to check for tuning errors.

You should be looking at your pilot/slow jet.

When the winds resist my impetus and sights become passing shadows. Every other sound is voided, all but the undeniable roar of my engine.

My physical vision recepts naught, but my mind is tranquil.

I see my inner soul.
