To each his own, but unless you really must have that helmet and trust that it was in perfect condition, then please go ahead.

If we do not have the $ to pay for a new helmet, then we might have to think about our priorities.

I dont agree, cos I need those those people with desire for 2nd hand stuff to fuel my desire for new helmet. For your info I change helmet every year, DOT,Snell approved full face. Cos I believe the polymer inside would degrade faster under our topical climate.

Even I ride scooter, I cannot compromise my safety, but after selling I can top up 50% and get a new one.....

may i point out that you yourself feel helmets are no longer safe for use beyond a certain age, exactly like constructicon, but u have no qualms selling these less-safe helmets to others for no other reason than to earn money for new helmets.

And your statement of earn money for the next helmet......How do I earn money when I sold for less than I brought???

 

Cheers mate , there are people like that...How many times cheap open face helmet just fly of the shelves and how many bikes you see on the road compromise their safety by using open face in our hot topical weather....And statistic shown 17% of the accident fell face front first....

new arai tour cross 2 is 750$, used, but in good condition is 450$... change cheek cushion for 80$. well, at least that's me...

How many times I seen S,A brands owner holds on to their >$500 helmet for more than 3 years...????

The polymer that in between the hard shell and cushion is the most important element in the helmet that cushioned the shock and impact when u need it....

The deterioration process is faster in our topical weather...But well.....That's irony....

 

I have seem my good friend crashed at turn 2 @ >100kph and get away with it.....Snell and DOT approved....

No matter how I emphasis on the importance of FF... There are people who really compromise....Ai ya I riding cl2b looked silly with FF....Ai ya I dont ride fast on my 2b.....and so on.....

Well is there a different when u crashed a super bike and 2b bike both at 50kph...?

Agree wif u man, its the mentality factor tat needs to be address. Personally took a blow while riding 2B years ago to the back railing of a pick up truck at 50km/h..knock u off for a few seconds. was lucky hit the side,even then u can tell a 30-40 bucks helmet is a waste of $$ might as well get a better one.

On the other hand, during my sport bikes day I changed 3-4 times tires per year ( track and tour), when used 60% I sold it off and top $200 for a new set. A set of fresh tire is cheaper than a whacked front of a super sport. I have lost count of people with bigger and bling (exhaust,brembo pump and etc...)sport bikes came and purchase my old set of tires....To others those tires are still usable.... To me is not.

 

There are people who focus are performance not safety.... Well they fuel my safety agenda ....While I fuel them with reasonable priced tear and wear items such tires and helmet...Win win situation...

The point mechwira and I is somewhat confused is that usually, a safety conscious person will apply his views upon others - what is not good enough for me, is not good enough for others, esp when it comes to Personal Protection Equipment.

Well someone finally know my intentions, I would said some are just sarcastic statements/remarks, I changed few of my bikers into Full time FF user. Which I deem it as an achievement, in fact I sincerely hope more can be full time FF bikers whether you ride small or big bikes and change helmet every 2-3 years.....Cheers!
