How you can help the opposition parties during GE 2011

[Note - the same applies to the PAP. But given my inclination, I'm not going to do more advertisement for the PAP; media is already doing a good job. Contact information below are therefore limited to only opposition parties.]

Nomination Day - 27 April

You can serve as Proposer, Seconder or Assentor for the candidate. Each candidate / GRC team needs 1 Proposer, 1 Seconder and 8 Assentors. You must be a voter registered in the same Electoral Division the candidate intends to contest in. That is, if you are a voter registered at Ang Mo Kio, you cannot nominate a candidate contesting in Hougang.

Commitment - You must be present at the the designated nomination centre for that constituency on Nomination Day.

Voting Day - 7 May

You can serve as either a Polling Agent or Counting Agent for the candidates.

Polling Agent

Each party can nominate its own Polling Agent to be present at each Polling Station. You will be checking the identity of the voters turning up at the polling station and to ensure that polling is done properly at the Polling Station.

Commitment - 2 to 3 hour training and half or full day on Polling Day (depending on available manpower).

Counting Agent

Each party can nominate its own Counting Agents to be present at vote counting. You will be present with the candidates to ensure that counting is properly done (there are protocols that must be observed). You will also be called to resolve disputes over ambiguous votes. You will witness the sealing of the vote chits in the ballot boxes after vote counting is completed.

Commitment - 2 to 3 hour training and several hours from evening until counting is completed.

Outreach & Campaigning period

Each party will need lots of hands for its outreach programme. The activities are varied:

a) Hand out flyers

b) Put up posters

c) Speak to voters during walkabouts

d) Organise various aspects of rallies (book rally site; book tents; set up booths etc etc etc)

Basically when campaigning kicks off, it's all hands on deck and manpower is needed all around. You can offer any amount of time you wish. It can be a one-off 1 - 2 hours. Any help is appreciated.

Commitment - up to you. Please speak to the campaign coordinator for more details.

Donations

The parties will need money to carry out its activities. Printing flyers, posters and newsletters need money. Booking rally sites need money. Setting up tents, renting PA systems and doing up backdrops for rallies need money. Even something as basic as providing water for helpers during events need money. If you can, please help. Political parties can accept donations only from Singaporeans. Please provide your NRIC so that the parties can verify your citizenship, and a mailing address if you want a receipt. It is an offence for them to accept donations from non-Singaporeans.

PAP always give me a heart attack with their policy, and i am always poorer. For the sake of my sanity, i vote opposition to put some balance in their loopsided policy. Really worry our reserves could be all dwindling, who knows, keep telling the whole world our ministers are highest paid in the world putting on pretence, sekali boh lui eh. Same scenario as US banks and MNC ceo what, companies are financially weak, still they are highest paid in the world. tolong man. Then we been con big time dudes.

Turning my back on the state media and using my own brain to Research on the Opposition's resume etc. (Education and Career). I noticed that a no. of the opposition members have better paper qualification then most of the Pap's new candidates and on the career side, Most on the opposition camps have held higher positions in the private sector compared to a majority of the Pap new candidates who are mainly ex civil servants or from NTUC.

My respect, money and future of my love ones and myself has to go to the opposition camp, as they have proved that they have better education and have paved their way

to the top of corporations by their own means. . . My suggestion would be to Let them enter parliament and by the next election they will defiantly be able to Run the government, And when government shift, You will see a no. of the ex Ruling moving over to the new Ruling.

Just like a baby's diaper, Government has to be changed too.(Cos it gets dirty)

And as predicted by everyone, The GE has come during the week where we will get our cash-handout. Try to sweeten you b4 Polling.
