just like xxRatedxxx reply.... You have already Ans your own question mate.

As for me, My vote will go to the opposition, We need more of them in Parliament so they are able to Challenge the policies and keep them in Line.

To me, Absolute power will lead to being abusive. As we have noticed over the last 5 decades the PAP has been in power, Not a single time has they listened to us and have always implemented policy, Which is right in their books etc... Casino.

And Why do you think they are so afraid to let us know, What is the No. of PR/CITIZEN working in the Casinos? They tend to group this 2 together and give a No.

They are full of B.S and They dont work for the people but instead work for the Rich as they them self are on board of a no. of companies.

Look at our Power Companies, They have been privatized and sold to Companies outside of Singapore.

Here we go again , fact twisting , with all due respect Mr. PM , no Singaporean has any issues with foreign workers, holding work permits, these poor laborers come here for a specific time and then go back to their country as they are not eligible to apply for permanent residency or citizenship in Singapore. Singaporeans have problem with employment Pass holders a.k.a. foreign talent who are competing directly for PMET jobs with local Singaporeans to the point that in 2009 7/10 jobs went to employment Pass holders a.k.a. foreign talent. There are no taxes or quota for employing these EP holders when an employer sees a local Singaporeans to hire he has to pay salary +16% CPF contribution for that local Singaporean per month whereas if he hires a foreigner there is no monthly tax or levy for the employer to pay this puts the local Singaporean PMET job seeker at a disadvantage because even if both local and foreigners are offered the same salary(which is never the case)the local Singaporean is still 16% more expensive. This is a failure on the lack of PAP government for not implementing already in existing rules and further tweaking rules to regulate the flow of ET holder foreigners a.k.a. foreign talent. till early 2000 a quota of three Singaporean versus one foreigner was strictly enforced which kept the number of EP holders in check. After signing free trade agreement with India and China the PAP government opened 314 categories of PMET jobs with India and China where their citizens can come on three months employment seeking visa and upon successfully getting a job employment cost was guaranteed irrespective of 3 to 1 quota in a recent FTA meeting with India Singapore was asked to open up 200+ more PMET categories in service sector such as Teachers etc (http://articles.economictimes.... .

All everybody is asking is to make PMT job sectors an even and level playing field for everyone by imposing a 16% tax on individual EP holders per month paid by the employers to a fund in CPF similar to employer CPF contribution , that fund can later be used for the educating of local PMET or similar purposes.at least this makes a foreigner and a Singaporean equally viable in the eyes of an employer without favoring either

This is the call which Mr. Prime Minister you and your colleagues carefully avoid to answer and always reverted back to foreign workers which are not the issue to begin with please stop avoiding the actual question is this scenario has already cost 40+ age group Singaporeans heavy job losses to these foreign talents.and if this trend continues that time is not far off when even fresh university graduates will not be able to find jobs because they won't be viable/affordable in the eyes of employers.

there are some scenario where government has to be pro Citizen and not pro business.

Bluelabel has a point. D real issue is dat it reali seems garment is brushing aside d plight of pmet who has stressed out due I d unlevel playing field created when the floodgate to foreign talent opened up. Tis is 1 main issue which will surely cost d garment hi loss of votes. Even if locals wer to continuosly upgrade n move up to pmet level they wld find dat d grass is patchy . N after spending money n time in upgrading will prob find themselves worse off.

Wat I wish to see if proof day d garment has indeed been diligent n getting needed talents. Nit jus brushing our job security concern wif broad sweeping statement of sgpore needs ft to grow

Yifamz I agree wif u compare to many countries sgpore security is good. But my beef is dat d standard has dropped. N if we dun hilite it now , things wod get much worse for sure.

Security isn't way it used to be. I

for one wld love to hav our frenly npp back especially given d population explosion these couple of years.

Who wld imgine mas selamat could

easily slip out of airtight security to another country. Same thing for Tok, d child killer who practically walk out d front door .

Something is seriously wrong n unless we send a clear message d people on top is still popping d champagne on how well they guided d country to economic boom via intelligent choice of opening d ir.

I truly believe they are disconnected from mainstream ground feeling.

If ther is no wakeup call. Veri soon our iconic airline , airport , sea port, wld jus b a sidekicks in d world arena.

Today taking d mrt how surprising to finds dat d safety barriers r in place. Jus before d election. Makes me realize one thing. Lives is cheap, votes is invaluables

dun worry la, no matter how u vote also the undergahmen still in power wan, so just vote otherwise to give them a scare, then they'll treat u better:

1) sdp start talking abt doing more for the old and poor,THEN undergahmen start to do more for the poor.

2) workers party stronghold potong pasir, so undergahmen buy the residents 1 abalone each at a makan session. wp: "vote for us and u get abalone."

3) sdp start questioning abt gst raise to 9%? 11%? undergahmen IMMEDIATELY stand out promise no gst hike for 5 years. (maybe a new Oxygen Tax so no need hike gst?)

Rmbr Mas Nasi Lemak, HDB surplus become deficit, open flood gates to FT, rising "cheaper" public transport, rising "low and manageable" healthcare costs, rising education fees, 60% increment in miser's pay, GIC + TH loses "peanuts"... ... ...

We are already seeing signs of this dreadful scenario right now in the present. Most Singaporeans are politically apathetic – they simply do not care what happen to their nation. The young has no sense of belonging – one third of them want to emigrate to greener pastures elsewhere. The ruling elite is out of touch with the people and they don’t realize it because the state media keep spinning only the untruths which they want to hear and not the bitter reality on the ground. Singapore will still top the international charts for the best institutions, infrastructure, education and economic stability, but deep down inside, the fabric which binds the nation together is crumbling apart for without the people, our most important asset, Singapore will never go far.

I have faith that most of u here are not as wat the words written in red is saying.

Pls remind everyone that our tiny island that we zoom across on the ECP, PIE, KPE, ECP at nite breathing in the cool dense air after a late nite supper with other bikers DOES NOT BELONG TO PAP. It is our island and it belongs to us, the people be it Chinese, Malay, Indian, Eurasian or any other races.

So its time that we reclaim it all back from the despotic PAP who is selling our beloved island to foreigners without caring a single thought about us.

I dunno about u, but I love my country. SO

When i vote, it's my vote. I dont give a damn as to who my friend, my neighbour, my colleague...etc votes for.

There are simple too many whiners around us.

People who whine about things they dun see fit, but yet they do nothing about it.

Pathetic behaviour.

Either do something about the things you dun like, or quit whining. I hope these people can understand this simple rationale.

The last time I checked, we lived in a democratic nation.

If you think one party (no matter what colour they wear), vote to support.

Else, do otherwise.

Simple as that.

so then are we having a better deal now?

and i m so tired of them using d same old carrot each time... Estate upgrading ...

wat so great abt

Let's put things in perspective.

Asset enhancement. This ties in with the value of your home, right? OK so, your property value/price goes up. So, you think that when you bought your flat or property at say, $200K around 5 years back and it's worth $350K... you've made some money right? 150K in profits, you say?

You'd be right. I mean... so your property has risen in value, and you should be able to upgrade to the next level. 4 room to 5 room. 5 room to EM or maybe even a condo.

Then reality hits you across the face like Serena William's backhand. Chow Chee Bye... you know why? Cos the price of all flats across the board have risen.

5 years back, your 4 room flat = $200K, 5 room flat = $250K. Now you sell at $350K, you think you can get a 5-room flat and still have 100K in hand? Dream on. 5-room flats now will be selling at $350K, $400K, $500K even. So you end up short again.

So how now? By right, public housing is supposed to be a govt assisted or aided program to provide cheap and affordable... i repeat CHEAP AND AFFORDABLE homes for the population. But by allowing HDB flats to be exposed to market forces and private sector manipulations, all of those principles have gone down the motherfuccking drain. You think you've profitted? Guess what? You sold your flat and realize that after you buy your new flat, you are back in the LAM PAH PAH LAN position PLUS new LOAN INTEREST. Now you really die c0ck stand.

How's them apples for you, baby?

2. Living standards

Salary are higher now.. but then again are cost of goods and services... so are we realli better off??

ther r more jobs created in recent years.. but ther r so much more competition esp wif the Foreigh talent floodgate open...

so are we really better off??

we hav many new spanking shoppin centers.. but can one find a carpark on wkend..

how long we hav to wait in Q...

y cant we eat in peace without dozens ppl eyeing ur seat??

Salaries are higher now, but inflation is even higher.

Plus inflation, the govt needs revenue too. So GST also goes up.

Then they need more revenue, ERP goes up too.

Now they've given themselves another pay rise and huge bonus. Where's the money coming from next?

Your salary is one component that goes up. But the cost components are many, and they sure as hell outstrip whatever salary hike you thought you got.

3. Security--this i rate most important...

seriously, compared to 10 years ago.. i really feel much unsafe now..in the past ther r regular neighborhood blue men patrolling...

now it seems like the focus is more on "Rapid Response" instead of preventive patrol....

things hav gotten so slack that it was oni months ago that they wer forced to do operation cleanup to roundup 120+ youth gangsters.. n this was oni after years of incidents of gang clash, fights....

Security? Singapore has always been safe. We are a neutered population, shaped by strict laws and harsh punishment.

When you introduce a few million foreigners into the mix, where they don't see eye to eye with us, or aren't that "meek and neutered", who form enclaves, don't integrate well. You'll start to see security issues for sure. If not now, then later.

Those different foreigner groups/enclaves, they already don't see eye to eye with Singaporeans... do you think they'll see eye to eye with the other foreigner enclaves or groups?

Keep that in mind.

4. Competitiveness

its veri clear dat our airline are losing its shine n no longer standout among d major airlines... emirates airline, qatar airline are now rated as d best

shipping port... now we r no longer d busiest port in d world...losing to hongkong, china ports on d high end.. n losing to malaysian ports on d low end of biz

mass R T.. oh boy.. super crowded... and i m most upset dat for so many years despite so many deaths... they r now oni installing barriers

So tell me..who shd i vote for... and why???

By introducing so many foreigners in, they've basically told us that we're screwed. The thing is that they didn't increase our skills to add value to us. Their shortcut was simply to bring in cheap foreign workers which drove our salaries down instead.

So they tell us better, faster, cheaper while they justified that they needed higher salaries to bring in better talents, and to avoid corruption. Do you see the obvious and very glaring hypocrisy here?

You, serf, work to the bone for less. We, Elite, need to be paid well to rule over you.

How will you vote now?

Well deuxmachinA, d asset enhancement does help 2 types of ppl: d elites who has d capital to buy multiple properties or someone who sells , get d profit n then migrate/ return to home countries.

Construction, spoken like a true biker. It's my bike my ride and I dun need to other ppl opinion on it. But then voting isn't reali affect individual oni. Are u nit open to hear how ur frens/neighbors either profit/suffer under garment policies? Dun u care for others? Individually ours votes counts for nothing but thru open n objective discussion we can then try to achieve collective agreement .

Can someone pls speak up for d Garment. Objectively of cos. So dat we can see 2 sides of d stories
