im planning a trip to mae hong son this coming early january 2012.

i know it like 8 mth more to go but im looking for experience rider or non experience rider to tag along with. i been to thailand b4 the furthers is hatyai with my bike, im riding a fazer 1000s 07.

im looking forward for this trips any rider whom have any experience or would love to tag along or share any detail abt mae hong son pls do not hesitate to leave me ur msg.

I'm looking @ early Jan....coz the weather in the north is cooler.

For the trips I estimated abt 2weeks(min) to 3weeks

Budget wise is abt 1.5k to 2k depend on what u spent

Coz Thai petrol are abt the same as here.I'm getting this info whom rider have been there b4.

In Jan its the best season to visit northern Thailand. coolest climate around north's mountainous area, accomodation rates r at lowest(no need to reserve room if travelling in few) & lower risk on the road during day riding.

 

the only set back r fuel prices, very expensive to travel by road now.... imagine u need 7000km of fuel for ur bike. budgeting is very important for trip like this.

I am repeating the Northern Thailand ride this year from Dec 18th to Dec. 31st ....after completing a similar ride (solo) on my SYM 250i scooter in December 2010 for 10 days.

Yeah...the climate began to turn cooler even in mid-December, even had three thick blankets over me on a very chilli night in Mae Sai.

At the end of this year I am riding up again on a different bike..a Versys KLE650 and will venture into places and routes that I missed last year due to the shortage of time.

If you ever happened to have an amended schedule and ride much earlier than you originally planned....we can synchronize the ride somehow...

You'd love the twisties and the bends leading up to Mae Hong Son and Pai on your Fazer....believe me...

juz got back from hatyai..fyi bro..esso is average abt 35baht per litre . let us noe the dates dat u have planned so all of us can work out our schedules..i may be plannin to join u too..juz dat still too early for leave to be approved..hahaha

Wish i could go to Vietnam in Nov but canot due to work and wish i could also go to MHS in Jan but also canot due to work. So me and my wife decided to ride up to Chiangmai, MHS and GOlden Triangle in December this year. I ride an ST1100. Din......Ride to Hatyai, Take the nite train to Bkk and ride to Chiangmai....then ride up to GT before you go to MHS....from MHS ride down to Kanachaburi vefore you head back to Chumpon, Hatyai and home sweet home Happy riding ya

Thanks for the advise. we are keeping our options open at the moment. The train ride sounds good. Wats tha cost like for the train? People tell me for the first time is to ride all the way to experience tha full journey once in a lifetime. Makes anyndiff?

Teacher Din, U welcome.....Its true that you should ride all the way...which I did few times....my take is...can give a miss as it is boring and from Hatyai, you will need to make a stop at Hua Hin for sure.....nice place though (maybe on the way back then ride)...going up take a train.....I myself have not taken the train and will do so this coming January 2012 when I go up to Laos (save a lot of time) Your number still the same?
