Hi Gwee,

I followed strictly 290PSI for both front n rear. I pillion 30% of the time n i find that its acceptable. Tried lower than 290PSI but felt the feeling is 'soft'. Pump higher than 290PSI, too bouncy!...

well, IMO... i feel that since the bike is so jialat liao, fixing the problem only fixes it. its not 100% already. and there might still be other problems that you have not realised yet as you can't "feel" it... YET. well thats in my opinion, others might view it a diff way.

The bike really damn jialat man. i'd suggest you bring this case up and refund whatever you have paid for the bike. then start from scratch over again. get a new Bird or find another better condition 2nd hand Bird. lor.

you might wanna consider my ride if you manage to get a refund. but of cos if you can find a better maintained bike, or better deal, by all means go ahead.

most importantly, you gotta feel good with what you paid for.

Would be nice to see my BB riden by someone from the BB group :cheeky:

i'm pumping 240 (front) and 260 (rear)..

ok rite..??

pillion only once in a while..

weide: new BB cost 21.5K OTR (on average)

Sorry to hear ur sad story on ur BB...

Dats the problem when buying 2nd-hand bikes from shops..

U'll never know wat it've been thru'..

Anyway, the vibration from ur bike, could be caused by the front tire.

I'm having the same problem after changing a set of 2nd-hand tires...

The front tire is out of shape, thus when i do a "free-hand" at 70kph. my bike starts to vibrate violently...

I'm still using the same set of tires as the thread still left wif 30%.

So, u can try to see if the tires are out of shape. No harm trying since u already done so much..

I doubt the bikeshop will let u refund the bike..

Highly unlikely..especially transfer and insurance all done..and so much repairs done also..

Cheers dude!

Hi Wei De,

I think its good that you post your problems here, we all can share and learn.

Here are my suggestions. (Let's assume the bike vibrates badly at 80kmh). Try the following and write back with your findings.

1) Let's try to isolate the problem. We first try to isolate the transmission as the problem. Go to 80kmh, and pull in the clutch. Does it vibrate less?

2) Go to 80kmh, change to neutral, hit the engine kill switch to turn off the engine (make sure you're in neutral!). Does it vibrate less?

3) Check your rear sprocket to front sprocket alignment. What you want to check is, are the two sprockets in line on the vertical plane? ie. is the chain running in one plane? For eg. if your front sprocket is a little to the left and your rear sprocket is a little to the right, your chain is not running straight.

To check, try to get a long ruler or a very straight piece of hard wire, and lay it down on the rear sprocket. It should be able to lay flat on the front sprocket as well. I don't own a bird so I don't know if anything will get in the way. Or you can "eyeball" it but it won't be as accurate. Use your imagination.

4) Is your tyre presure at the correct setting? Underinflated tyres will cause rough running.

5) Is your rear tyre aligned correctly in the swingarm? Don't trust the markings on the swingarm, on many production bikes, they are not accurate. Take a long welding wire or strighten a clothes hanger and use that to measure from a fixed reference point on your swingarm, for eg. the centre of the swingarm axle. Measure that the distance from the axle to the chain adjustment nut, check it is the same on both sides.

6) Are your front forks straight? Eyeball then down the length of the tubes, the 2 tubes should be parallel.

7) Is your front tyre aligned to your rear tyre? There are many ways to check this, use google.

8) Put your bike up on the centre stand. Grab the rear tyre and try to twist it side to side. Is there any play? (You're checking that the bearings are not shot and all the shims necessary are there)

9) Grab the front tyre and do the same, try to twist it side to side (have someone hold the handlebars), does it have any play? Even slight play is very bad, it gets magnified when you go fast.

10) Grab the forks at the bottom near the wheel, try to pull and push them in every direction, are they tight? is there any play at all? We're checking the steering head bearings.

- Anything else anyone can think of?

All these tests assumes that your main frame is ok and has not been buggered in a major accident. If it has then changing the frame would be the only way to go. Try to do all these tests and write back, it could be something simple like a bad bearing or alignment, or it could be something unfixable, such as a rewelded frame after a bad accident.

Write back and let us know what you find! All the best.
