Encountered the new system where you have to give your fingerprints at JB immigration. They also stuck a 2 piece sticker on my passport. The second portion was supposed to be removed when returning back to SG but the MY lady officer didnt. I checked with her but she said just leave it.

Anyone else had this experience??

Now what to do with the other half which is left dangling? Wanted to paste it but if they keep on adding stickers, its as bad as having stamps on the passport ... aiyo

I also went in a couple of days ago, they torn off the other 1/2 of the sticker.

And when I ask, the counter girl just said it's for the immigration office.

What's up with that?

Anyway, going in later, using my new MACs, see what they say. :p

In the bus and tour coach arrival halls, I noticed that only those ang-mohs need to perform fingerprint scanning.

I hold a MACS sticker (for frequent visits to MY) but they did not require me to do the abovementioned, nor have to issue me any stickers.

I'm not too sure in the future I'd have to or not.

i went jb two weeks, i saw some ppl need to scan two index fingers while some dont. And i m not given any sticker or asked to scan fingers.

I went jb yday (22/5/11), my passport had two mini stickers, no fingers were scanned. When i return, they tear one mini sticker n left d other on my passport w date.

As for MAC, it is on annual basis. U need to travel..not sure hw many times a year to qualify. U gotta pay RM30 n apply at d custom w pix (better bring two). They will not chop on ur passport once u hve MAC

what i meant was, i usually run out of pages by 9 months. so... i was thinking, this MACS will surely extend the lifespan of my passport ar since dont need to chop the pages... and yes i know our passports have a 5 year lifespan. will consider doing that on a fresh new passport

Thrash? Don't mind if i do.

it can b big money (revenue) for msia!! RM30 for each sporean frequent traveller.

My pp left four years lifespan and hve remaining 19.5 pages. Meaning i m still able to have 19x6chops + 3chops = 117 chops.

4yrs x 12mths = 48mths; 117/48 = 2.4times a month or 29.25times a year!!

I tink i hve to quickly apply MACS to save my pp.

No chopping needed if using MACs.

The MACs system uses a chip like our SG Biomatrics scan.

I also just did mine this month. Passport left 19 pages, got until 2015 before expiring.

I did mine at Woodlands checkpoint on the Malaysian side immigration office. (Big gray and green glassy building) :)

What you need in order to apply

1. Passport size photo

2. 30RM

3. 4 chops on your passport in the last month.

4. NRIC

They got the form to fill in in the office now, so no need to print from home.

I went on a friday afternoon, (11-1pm) so that less people because of friday prayers.

If you are driving or riding there, please do not park under the overhead bridge, I was about to park there when I saw 2 traffic police having a field day there summoning like nobody's business.

So, I bypass them and did a detour to park outside a nearby mosque about 500m walk from the office, figuring nobody will be so hardcore as to summon a bike parked outside the mosque during prayer time. And walked back to the immigration office on the walk back, I saw a open air carpark just 200m away from the office. Dam! :slapforehead:

When you enter the building, there is a counter at the bottom of the ecalator, to change pass, give them your Pink IC to excange for a security pass. No pass= cannot enter the department later when you go up.

Go up and cross the overhead bridge, go to the left, go up the ram and go through door 6 it's the fire escape door, but they use it for a short cut!

Look for the MACs office, fill in the form pass them items 1-3 and you are done!
