I don't know if its me or my bike but it seems to have lost braking power.

I haven't ride my bike for a month due to a fracture and I'm back on it for about 2 weeks already. I'm gonna send it for EO Change tomorrow (since I heard that if the bike hasn't been used for a period, should change EO more frequently), however I dunno if I should change the brake fluid as well... Pls correct me if I'm wrong on the EO change part.

How do you tell if you need to change the brake fluid? I'm afraid that it might have absorbed moisture from the rain and all since the weather has been bad the past month or so. If so, does moisture affect the effectiveness of the brakes? From what I see, I still have brake pad left just that it feels not as effective as before...

Some additional info: I bought my bike last November from A.S.Phoon they assured me that everything serviced and working well. True enough almost no problems except for radiator leak which they replaced for me. I read that brake fluid should be replaced every year or so, could environmental conditions affect frequency?

Thanks in advance. :)

I don't think so, squeaky sound u mean? Hmm sometimes rear brake will have but it doesn't seem to be a problem, looks like it has a lot left in there also. Its like just a red block for my rear brake pad, don't seem to see a line to mark the point to replace though. Front brake have at least 3-4mm no squeaky sound.

Watch out when you change to steel braided hoses. When i changed my 2B bike's hose from the stock rubber to an SS one, the brakes got too overly sensitive and strong.

Brake fluid should be changed every 2 years. It's not necessary to change it more often than that unless you track the bike, as it's just a waste of money.

The brake system is supposed to be air and fluid tight, so no, rain won't be able to get in unless parts are missing or not tightened properly.

What could've happened is that air might have gotten into the system, so just try bleeding the system first and see if it solves the problem. Simple to do, and it's free. If you've never seen it done before, better go to a shop to have it done, don't take chances with brakes.

yup totlay agree with you.that y even my cl2A bike after i upsize my brake piston size i stick with the OEM hose, casue i find using the SS is over sensitive.

How much is brake fluid usually? CBR150, if it does affect like maybe bigger bikes nid more volume or smth?

just top it up,release all air bubble and re top it.if you DIY like me,1 bottle is enough.

if the brake fluid absorb too much moisture, the brake lever will feel spongy when depress..

the braking power will fade slightly after prolong braking as the boiling point of the fluid will reduce..

Alright thx for the answers!

I guess it might be due to this as I brake over long period most of the time. Hmm...
