Its ok if u have no company, can apply too. For school no difference if u r taking cert in WSH. SP, NP, BCA are good school so just apply if there is slots or located at your convenience, SDF is for sg/ sg PR only..

Sorry to amend opsoc is actually opscs = oil petroleum safety course for supervisor

Hi

Anyone have taken or currently taking ACTA course?

Hi A23,

i took and completed the ACTA in 2009.

it's for those who wish to be a trainer in any field.

it's an Advance Certificate in Training and Assessment.

it's meant for ppl who desire to be a trainer in their field of work or already a trainer but needed the qualification to be recognised as trainer.

no big deal.

you can't command a higher salary with this cert. but certainly would be an asset and pre-requisite if you wish to be a trainer.

IDK if this is part of the safety line.

there is this company, "august international" conducting BCSS (building construction safety supervisor??) course for $65 bucks. but sadly, only for the malays as its subsidised by MENDAKI. actual price i think is $280. Those interested can try applyin. this is the last bcss intake that is subsidised by the company.

in order to get the subsidy, u have to be:

1. working (With CPF contribution)

2. singaporean

3. min. sec 2.

(im not too sure. u have to check w them)

its a 3 sunday class. 11, 18, 25 Sept '11.

25 sept - mcq test

27 sept (7-9pm) - case study test.

August international - 63168386

dont contact me. im not working for them. juz sharing. cheer. :)

I had a guy who came for interview some time 2 months ago. He was a RSO, joined MOM as an inspector for a year contract, came out and became a RSO again.

Couldn't pass the interview.

By the way, he wanted to be a WSH Coordinator in my company, willing to drop pay a little bit to learn from my company.

I personally believe, it doesn't really matter where you have been, but rather whether you have learn anything useful to give you the edge.

Hi Bro,

Long time no see. Have been away for the forum for quite some time. Should have come in as during the last 8 months, I've recruited for my company 4 WSHC in April, dismissed 1 WSHC in June, recruited 1 to replace, and recruited another 4 WSHC last month.

Anyway for those looking for jobs, my advise is to get recommendations into Consultant companies especially if you got no experience, be it WSHS, WSHC or WSHO. Consultant companies are a good stepping stone as some of them have "tie ups" with established companies so putting you in a job, even without experience will be easier.

When I first got registered as a WSHO in August 2009, Bro Welly recommended me into the consultant company he was working with. I was put into Japanese Company LTA & URA's Civil Engineering project eventhough I come from Oil & Gas Industry when I was a WSHC.

In September 2010, I left and joined a MNC as the Project EHS Manager for a Building construction project eventhough I have never done any building works before.

I'm now in the process of completing the administration for a job offer of an Assistant HSE Manager in Qatar eventhough I have no Marine Industry experience.

So I have this firm believe that it all depends on you on how confident you are when you go for that interview and able to convince the interviewer of your abilities.

Imagine with no Civil Engineering experience, just got the registered WSHO, I can go into the LTA project bearing in mind of their strict requirements.

So guys, believe in yourselves, go for it, and just make sure that you do a good job when you're there.

i had a guy who called me at 2am in the morning, some years ago, and sought advice for a career move.

reason of him moving: can't work along with his boss.

will you recruit such ppl??

i told him nicely to sort thing out with his superior and leave on a positive note. and oso told him that call at such early hour was not appreciated.

hope he is doing fine now.

the moral of the story: job advertisement on "we recruit ppl who can't work with their bosses..." hard to come by. and "we need ppl to call at the inconvenience of our customers..." haven seen one yet.

let's keep our fingers crossed and look out for the recruit page this saturday.
