LTA on Harley Davidson Exhaust

Hi guys..although I'm not riding a HD but a FJR 1300...I kena letter for inspection though its not due yet. I just bought last year...BTW, I have the pipe changed to LV taking out the silencer, I went for inspection of coz with the silencer on...pass with flying colours....not even sound test..just verify cert and take pictures...but wasted 30 mins of my life...

 

Now the trend is not only kena caught riding..parking will also kena..but lesser pain cause you can have the time to change and go for inspection like me.

 

Actually, I once thought of riding HD...I really like the rumble..but thinking of LTA..they really piss me off and I have set aside my plan to ride other make instead...actually if HD Spore going to have aftermarket pass the inspection, I believe the sound is still not up to the standard....

 

Once the Garment with new President can decide that HD can installed aftermarket exhaust..I book 1 straight away..

Bro, sorry to quote you but your so tinkle me head...If changing the new President can to this you might as well say...he give you one HD for free...What ever it is, do it smart...if you see LTA still want to act cool and blow your trumpet then you give the government the extra...I'm on original pipes but did a little here and there, ride with cautious and unlikely you get that ticket.

Thanks for sharing. btw where did you get the 99dB number? it should be in the 80's range. 99dB is pretty loud.

 

FYI, there are TUV approved ones that can pass LTA inspection if the proper procedure is executed.

Bro, my CVO wide Glide 2002, frame states...94dB...hmmmm needs to check..

I think we should not mix up the charity events and LTA... unless all participating HD have to go for inspection before joining the charity event.

 

we like the rumble do not mean others like it. just like some love the screaming sound of 2 stroke bikes. To be fair, some HD is really loud...

i went to the inspection centre to get my bike inspected. the inspector told me the passing sound is 99db. u guys can trying asking them the next time u go for inspection, but asked after passing ur inspection. not before!

i dont get the logic here. speeding vehicles, endangers lives on the road. does exhaust do the same? how loud the pipes are, it takes time before u have hearing problems.

The fellas who usually stop our riders are locals... no 22 and no 23 are the main ones that stop harleys n ducatis. its becoming a trend actually after asking around within some frens. bigger cc bikes naturally produce louder sounds... its the baffles in the exhaust that quietens it down. kup chai can hav full system yoshimura exhaust... our neighbouring country kup chai riders can have pipes as loud as a helicopter.. it seems like double standard.. wierd law without giving good explaination...

I think it's all abt luck lah. I also have friends ridng jap bikes telling me they don't understand why LTA only summon jap bikes but never summon harley when harleys are obviously so much louder.

Further understand LTA had increased their Enforcer Manpower and also having fellow riders sayg like "my bike was inspected few days ago, all passed! Y i'm being summoned?!" Whether knowingly or not that after market exhaust without LTA approval is illegal.......dont really help the SITUATION.

 

Yes agreed, y foreign bikes having Loud Exhaust not being penalised.....ask them for the CERTIFICATE, do road blocks every morning n evening at the border crossings. Sure can increase e COFFERS.........likely also PROMOTIONS assured?!

cos when we cross the borders irregardless of vehicle that we travelled in, we're binded by their TP and JKR.

 

So if wanna enforce.....ensure compliance across the roads island wide, if not all of us are road users....so be prudent and compassionate.

 

Anyway LTA and TP sure can very much ensure our safety on the roads......there are sure lots of POTHOLES that they can ensure immediate rectification to be carried out and errant road users to deal with.

 

Till there's NOT a hole of potholes on the road and ZERO accident, i dont think they are carrying out their Roles and Responsibilities to their utmost diligence.

Hi all HD owners.... some shocking facts.... this morning on my way to MSCP, saw a (white ants) not TP... wondering ard in the MCSP carpark for some specific reasons... I think was hunting for stationary bikes park there for illegal mods. I think one of the Harley parked at the same MSCP 'kana' because the canvas was uncovered slightly behind. Damn!! Sorry cannot post which MCSCP no. here.I think the most likely the Harley No. plate was taken down and picture snapped on the spot as evidence. But something not right I think, they are only intrested in local bikes from what I see because there are tones of Malaysia registered bikes with mod's mufflers as short as 6 inches and as big as 'milo' tin or No. plate with tiny funny fonts & letters that cannot be seens at the ground floor of the mscp and why is he at the 2nd or 3rd floor? Whereby only 4 bikes on level 3? He should be busy on the ground floor instead with tones of goodies... Or maybe some specific made are targetted??

I think now TP & LTA work hand in hand, when illegal mods bikers got caught or stop by TP, they will radio the nearest LTA officer in that area to attend to the case if the TP deem the case as illegal modification. This is because maybe LTA have instruction that any illegal mods bikers got caught by TP, they will be escort back to LTA for inspection and slap with the fines immediately.

 

Maybe the TP need to go throught certain protocol or they have too much paperwork to do if they have to escort the bikers back to LTA during their routine rounds, thats why LTA has to called in whenever anyone got caught on the road for illegal mods. Strange... if all after market pipes are not allow to be use in Singapore, banned from importing or sales to Singapore. That will solved the problem, same issue with smoking... banned and yet still selling. So you should know the catch behind...

Actually its not hard to understand why they never hunt down those Msian bikes. Its simply too troublesome to track them down. You can take photos of the bike as evidence, after that do what? Send letter to where? Look for who? Ask Msian police to help track down the bikers? They won't even care... cuz there are just too many of them. If they don't wanna pay fine, just run back to Msia and park their bike there, what can TP do?

For HD or any other Spore bike, its easy. Track down the bike, record bike number, take photo, send the letter to your house to invite you for inspection and you no choice gotta go and inspect and pay the fine. Simple. Not happy? Where can you run? Park your bike at Msia?

Due respect to all the considerate HD riders, but I must say there are some dumbass HD riders who simply don't know where and when to rev their freaking loud bikes. Go into MSCP must rev. Ride out of MSCP, along the small road also must whack. Irritate the hell out of all the neighbours. Neighbours complain. Give exact location of where the bike is parked. Some even more free one will take the photo of the bike and send to LTA. LTA send letter to your house... and so the cycle begins......

Wahhh, thats bad. Last week on PIE so 2 TPs on the road shoulder just chilling out, I was at the third lane going slow, lucky they didn't chase. Probably if you're just cruising and not attracting tonnes of attention you don't have to keep looking over your shoulder.
