What type of air filter do you have on your bike? paper element or oiled foam/cotton? :thirsty:

I'm using the Form/cotton type of Air Filter. Should I clean the Air filter with water first than petrol? I'm unsure of the steps.. @.@

How long it take to soak your air filter bro?

Can i just wipe it with plan cloth after soaking the air filter?

I soaked them for about an hour.

If you don't have the access to an air compressor, you can soak up the excess kerosene as much as possible with paper tower and air dry it. The residual kerosene will evaporate pretty fast.

I never do it cuz I too lazy to take out that thing and I don't have enough tool to open my tank... So I always ask the shop to do it... I do it once every six month... All the way they use patrol to clean it up

There are a few good reasons why petrol is not suitable as a cleaning agent for air filter.

- More expensive than kerosene

- some plastic & rubber parts will react negatively to petrol.

For K&N filters, it is highly recommended to get their K&N re-charge kit which consists of a cleaning detergent, and an oiler so that the filter can perform like new.

I would advise against petrol, too strong might damage the seal or the filter media.

I usually soak in diesel and then soapy water to rinse off the diesel. Air dry. Again I advise against pressure air blast might blow a hole in the filter if not careful, this will directly blow a hole in your pocket too.

When dry apply filter oil or the thicker gear oil. Engine oil also can but not as good.

What kind of bike do you have? For dry filter just use compressor, don't get too close and damage though. Dirtbikes use wet filter, then you need first rinse off the filter oil with gasoline / cleaning substance. Dry it and drench in filter oil before placing back.
