I noticed that in the forum, many people is looking for the lift up helmet, and most of the recommendation from the members is NOLAN.

It is too painful for me to spend such $$$ to buy a helmet, I have do some homework and perhaps I would like to share with all bros.

Personally that I found that Zeus has a good review in the internet, if we compare the ratio of price/quality.

You may refer to the following website to more info of various lift up helmet and also some of the review as well. thank you bro.

2 cents opinion, expensive does not mean good quality, cheap does not mean good buy, expensive does not mean not a good buy and cheap does not mean poor quality.

For those who use to have / currently using zeus flip up helmet.

1. Is it good? (Your Feedback)

2. Is the inner cushion detachable?

3. Is it heavy?

4. How much does it cost?

5. Is the model nice?

I intend to get a zeus Flip up but don't have no any idea on this helmet. Please give me your valuable feedback. Thank you!

Regards,

1. Is it good? (Your Feedback)

Read reviews from a british website, a couple wearing the helmet crashed out, wife landed chin first. though the catch was plastic, it did not snap open. I was quite impressed.

2. Is the inner cushion detachable?

Only the cheek pads and neck lining is removable and washable

3. Is it heavy?

Only heavy at first, got used to it already...

Now i wear a open face, i feel almost like wearing nothing.

4. How much does it cost?

Around $150 try to bargain!

5. Is the model nice?

Ok lah simple design with a small budget.

Nope.. nothing beats the protection of a solid built full face.

But then.. with a flip up it sure beats a full face in terms of convenience. :cheeky:

Been using my Zeus 508 for nearly a year already. So far no problems for me. Only sometimes need to tighten the 2 screws, use thumbs will do, so that the flip up dun fall close when u walk, and so I can make a small opening when riding to let some air in. But if have money will of course buy a Nolan or Syncrotec. :lovestruck:

Previously, I owned and used a Zeus ZS508 Flip-Up helmet. There are many comments and reviews on this helmet which I am sure many of you would have read about. That which I want to share with you all is from my personal experience using this helmet : you can draw your own conclusions.

I had the helmet for about 6 months. Undoubtedly, it was one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest flip-ups around. Admittedly, I bought this helmet for its convenience as a flip-up (coz i wear specs) and the relatively low price.

After about 3 months of daily use, I noticed that it became noisier and nosier. But as I wear ear plugs, I couldn't really tell where the noise was coming from.

One day, as I was riding up Benjamin Sheares Bridge, with my small 125cc bike struggling up the slope of the bridge (speed = 65kmph), with fierce cross winds blowing, SUDDENLY ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE! The flip-up part of the helmet rattled uncontrollably. I had to hold it down with my left hand, while my right hand controlled the accelerator of my bike.

At a safe spot, I stopped my bike to examine the problem : the plastic hinge was completely broken (though I have never dropped the helmet before nor has it been in a crash).

The next day, I went to the "world famous" retail outlet at Kelantan Lane (where I originally bought the helmet from) to see if the problem can be fixed.

"Sure, no problem, a pair of replacement plastic screws and plastic hinge I'll sell you cheap cheap for .... ONLY $10", he said in Hokkien-accented English.

It was an easy decision for me : I binned the helmet.

It didn't occur to me then to take a photo of the damaged hinge, otherwise I'd be able to attach it here.

As an after-thought, I was very fortunate that I did not suffer an accident while using the helmet, otherwise I don't think I would be alive to write this and share my experience.

Most of us who wear specs, would choose a flip-up helmet that is within our budget. However, can we put a budget on the price of our head / lives?

That's a decision each of us have to make for ourselves.

Ride safe, bros!

Theres real and fake zeus 508 in the market.. my friend bought from the same famous shop as you.. He dropped it once and the shell cracked. I felt funny when i handled his helmet.. seems lighter.. :cheeky:

Mine drop also bo tai chi... i wonder...

the thing is, flip up will loosen, so u gotto to tighten it occasionally.

After browsing thru several brands of flip ups like HJC, Nolan, mhr, gdr, i just got myself a zeus flip up. I was extremely surprised by the quality of a taiwanese helmet. The finishing is marvelous. there were no rough edges and the visor which is the most important thing, shuts tight and sits right on the curve. so, i guess Zeus really had some work done on their latest flip up after receiving reviews and user feedbacks over the years. u see, to me a helmet has to have a certain amount of quality beside safety, like the inner liners or most of the riders call it cushions, and of course the finishing like the outer shell and visor has to sit and open in a normal decent level. if a helmet no matter how cheap or expensive, doesn't even give the minimal amount of quality, then it is of no use. If you look at Zeus, the price is S$130 matches the quality, infact i'd say better. and guess what, it comes with D rings, Dot and ECE approved oh and PSB aswell. so, before getting one, just go have a look at this low profile helmet.... i'm sure you won't regret trying it.

Hey bro,

using a Zesus FF-Flip up..

Eh when u guys say inner cushion cannot detach.. which part the cheek parts can't detach huh? The top part touching the hair can remove.

The air vent right at the top is flimsy. Mine came off after I dropped it. Well it looks kinda better w/o anyway. I suppose most helmets r when u drop them.

Abit heavy, especially when u flip it up. If the winds are strong and it's on flip-up mode, u can feel ur head sway with it. lol.

I'd buy another. If u buy with other barang, ah boy there can bargain to $140. Tell me if u see the white version!

Guys need advice on which helmet to get. i've narrowed down my choices to Zeus, HJC CL-Max and the Rjays Tourtech, all of which are roughly in the same price zone. which would u recommend?

Anyone who'd been scouting for flipups knows which is THE LIGHTEST of all?

Any brand will do.

Currently using 3/4 MhR helmet with all liner removed, i d.iy the inside

around 1.3kg, hoping to find one flip up do the same at 1.5 kg max

So far I find most helmets mention lingers at 1.7+-kg unmodified
