Hi guys, as some of you may have read the issue I post in Iron Horse, I think it will be best to post here too just to share it with you guys

The issue is: the twisting of fuel line may decrease the fuel flow to the engine.

2 weeks ago after I went to replace my spark plugs & all the normal servicing staff, and on last tuesday I went for a morning ride in Malaysia, when I reach 215km/h, my turtle starts to jerk forward & backward, I imediately close trottle & retry to hit 215km/h mark, the same problem arise again.

Thats is strange to me cause I was able to hit above 250km/h. That time was still Chinese New Year so my prefer bike shop is closed, so I did post the issue in the Iron Horse thread, with much help, I start to assume that its either

1) TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) is out or

2) I replace a BMC air filter thus result in more air to fuel ratio = lean mixture.

Well, that was what I think through discussion. WW did enlighten me that Unity opens on Friday, so I am early to go there & have a check.

I did went down to Unity on Friday. I told Ah Siong about the problem, and to my surprise~ to his experience, the main problem may be because of the fuel-line from the fuel tank to the engine is twisted~!

So we dismantle the fuel tank & the fuel-line somehow is really a little bit bend, Ah Siong able to twist it back to such a way that it looks ok to us. And to my satisfraction & surprise that I can feel more torque, especially in the mid-range.

He explain to me that in the past, a Kawasaki biker did ask him (Ah Siong) for help, that biker has the same case as mine, which hit 220km/h then cannot hit higher speed. By studying his case & past experience, Ah Siong found out that the fuel line is seriously twisted, so bad that the biker need to order a new one. When the fuel-line is twisted, the fuel flow lesser than it expected, so there will be lesser fuel into the fuel-air mixture, thus produce a jerking

by the way, a 6 inch fuel line cost him S$300 plus :help:

But my case is lucky that the fuel line is still in good condition, the reason of twisting is may be because of the replacement of spark plugs, where I must open the fuel tank & dismantle the fuel line, but by reinstalling back the fuel tank, the fuel line was not properly lay & there is a twist occur.

So guys, remember when you have to dismantle the fuel tank, when reinstalling back, do take care the fuel line is properly lay. And I thank to Ah Siong, he look into the case & remedy it for me Free of Charge.

Then last night I went to do a blast again to really see if the problem have solve or not, and to my satisfaction, the propblem have solved, I able to hit 241km/h without the jerking experience again, so that most likely prove that the twist of fuel-line does affect the fuel-flow to the engine, especially in high rev/speed.

Thanks for reading, hope my little experience will do you good, cheers :thumb:

yup ... i was there ... there was another 636 but i dont know if he is from this forum?

anyway ... i need some advice ...

i am currently using metzler sportec m1 ...

after 5 laps of riding ... the rear tend to slip on exiting of corners as i apply the throttle ... and at one point ... the front starts to slip at turn 1 which cause me to enter the gravel ...

i was on 2.5bar front and 2.9bar rear (normal recomended tyre pressure for road riding) ... i reduced the pressure to about 2.3bar front and 2.7bar rear ... same thing happen after 5 laps ...

so is it the tyre pressure or tyre type? becos i dont think its my riding ... too slow to even finish off the "chicken strip" ... and the tyres after the total 10laps looks normal without the chunks of melted rubber ... :giddy:

:help:

You should go lower on the pressure especially on a hot day. I would normally go for 2.2bars in the front and 2.0bars at the rear. Try out different pressure and see the differences. You will bound to find 1 you are comfortable and confident with.
