started this thread long ago , but response quite low. maybe becos niner riders mostly quite old and dont go on the net?? heh heh

 

anyway, just wondering whats the population of the Kwak Niner these days, seems very rare.........

parts more expensive? only slightly

 

design wise, i personally feel that kawas come out tops.

 

i'm not looking to form any niner group cos i got no time to do so.

but it's nice to hear from another , thats all.

Ya Kawa parts are rather ex.. But petrol consumption depends on individual, if you like to drag, every bike also will drink petrol..

i think i drag more than most ppl but the fuel consumption, i find, is very reasonable.

 

anyway, you shouldnt choose a class 2 sportsbike base on fuel consumption.

if so, better not ride a sportsbike to begin with.

true......what's your consumption per week?

 

normal average riding and not always lut the throttle.

 

i'm studying now but thinking of getting a bike soon, that why thinking of lower cost.

 

thinking of getting a zx7, when younger always dream of the bike.

i only ride once a week for fun not for transport.

petrol is the least of my concerns

 

i think it does about 11-14km/liter with all my whacking

otherwise probably 15km/liter upwards

 

i advise either the 6 or the 9.

 

6 is nice and nimble for track play but not good for touring

9 is nimble enuff for trackplay and excellent even for touring

7 is neither here nor there becos the 6 is quicker on track and the 9 is much more powerful for tour.

 

see what you need the bike for then decide.

 

having said that, the zx7 is indeed a good looking and solid bike still.

understand what you mean about the 6 for nimbleness and the 9 for power.

the think is that.....the 7 was for me the bike to have esp during poly, my senior had a 7 before upgrading to a 9.

 

after that he can't take the high fuel consumption and want to sell off.

i really think that something is wrong with his bike. fuel consumption for a Niner is by no means higher than other sportsbikes in the same category.

 

unless you are comparing a Niner with a 400cc bike which is no basis for comparison to begin.

 

hope to see more Kwaks on the road and on the track. hehehe

ther are just to many Yammys and Suzies already.

You riding a C1 model?..What colour? only seen a couple on the road..mostly green.

 

What do you think about the Y2K model compared to yours.. how long have you own it?... is it worth paying more for the Y2K model?

yes, i'm on the C1 Kawa racing green. i own it for almost 1 yr, before that was a ZX11

 

never tried y2k model but from specs it is slightly lighter and more powerful. the fairings also more aero. otherwise not much diff. i know a Malay guy riding the E model.

 

as long as you get the 1998 model and later it's ok. becos the C1 is the first time Kawa refined the engine and dropped the weight of the Nine tremendously to compete with the blade.

 

compare to pre 98 models the post 98 models are very much smoother and lighter and quieter too.

 

 

my Niner has been absolutely reliable and smooth running. it's due for engine oil change and tyre change after my next track day. IMHO Kawasaki designs are the fiercest and coolest.

it seems more and more ZX9R are appearing in the used market.. maybe in anticipation of the ZX10R perhaps?

i'm one of the few from singapore who attended the 37th Tokyo Motor Show last Oct. Previewed the ZX10R, R1 2004, GSXR and CBR1000 together with all the concept bikes and pure race breeds......

 

i have to say that i'm most impressed by the Ninja still. however the ZX10R is designed to be a race breed unlike the Nine which also has excellent comfort for sport touring.

 

maybe a few years down the road, i'll sell my niner for the ten.

I guess all the manufacturers are making their machines more track oriented than before chasing after the title held but the gixer 1000.

 

No doubt they are killer bikes but may be too much bike for some of us.. i mean look at the R1 when it 1st came out.. a fantastic bike but was difficult to 'tame' and ride for those who are not used to that kind of power.

 

Any way to some..more is better...but only if you can harness all that power and use it responsibly too...

 

I think those sportbike fans will be spoilt for choice this year!

Hi there

 

I am currently riding a B model ... but not too sure of a reliable shop to send the bike for servicing ... do you have any strong recommendations .... for I feel that not many mechanics are familiar with Kawa engine ...

hello guys... a fren of mine is been offered a FQ ZX9 C1 model at 8k... the owner has dyno jet the bike and will throw in an arrow aftermarket endcan and a tank bra. is it worth it?

my zx11 was services at Perfection motors at eunos which does mostly big bikes and many kawas. service is alright , my zx11 carbs were cleaned by alan the owner. good job but pricey overall.

 

lately i'm going to unity motors for simple stuff but, they are not that great.

maybe i'll be going back to Perfection for my next servicing.
