Hi guys, any one encounter this problem before?

My bike, YBR125 running OK until it starts to rain and bike engine starts to choke, as if out of breath, keeps coming after it goes off after awhile. Speed up again , problem comes again. even when I clutch in, try to accelerate, it happens. Wait awhile, problem goes off. these only happens during rainy days. Anyone knows what could be the possible faults? Thanks.

Change your spark plug

Spark plug and air filter just changed a week ago. Tried splashing water on carburetor and run engine, nothing happened!!! ????????

it's possible tat u have electrical leak.

possible cause r spark plug plastic cap n cable, try change these first.

if it happens again then troubleshoot to find where the most likely electrical leaks.

insulate tape the entire electrical cable.

I have the exact same incident on u....

Have been experiencing that for the past 3-4 months...

When heavy will have that choke feeling, power come and go....

Plug changed and air filter change also no use...

Fren say might be the spark plug cap, will try to change and see if it helps....

CDI or Magneto.

I ride a damn YBR. But your problem sounds like a chocked airbox though. Not enough air entering your carb.

I also had that similar problem with my old sonic kupchai. Yup the bike suddenly chokes when riding especially during VERY HEAVY downpours.

In my case, I support stsoh's opinion cause the problem with my bike that time was the electrical leak from my spark plug cap. It happened after I changed to a new aftermarket sparkplug cap. As such, I went back to the shop to rectify the prob and found out that their mech didnt installed the s.p cap and wire properly(meaning they are loose..). Thus when rain, water seeps into the cap and resulted in the electrical leak which made my bike "choked". So they reinstall everything swee2 and even black taped everything. After that, ride in all types of raining conditions no prob at all..

Now that you mentioned about changing your plug cap recently, maybe you should check your spark plug cap again on whether it is fixed properly and not loose.

Too little air during rainy days bah. Cause too humid resulting in overly rich mixture. Trying leaning down the mixture. If don't know how, go look for your mechanic. Should be a simple cheap fix. No harm trying.

You have an electrical leak. At the alternators/magnetic coil. Ignore it and it will burn down your coil. Just speaking based on experience (: Get your mechanic to check the wires converting the AC to DC.

Just changed spark plg cap and still having the same problem while riding in the rain... damn irritating

Tap around between the upper portion of spark plug cap and cable with insulating tape.

Rainwater slips in sometimes.

+1 for spark plug caps. I had that problem on my gixxer, water was seeping into one of the 4 plug sockets due to a badly fitting spark plug cap, causing that plug not to fire, engine would run rough because of that. When the engine warmed up the water evaporated and the problem would go away. Changing the plug caps solved the problem. Check the entire ignition system for water leaks, if the caps have been changed the problem might lie elsewhere along the ignition system.

Water in the fuel might also be a problem, if your tank cap seal is leaky or worn out, water leaks into your fuel tank and sinks to the bottom, causing it to be sucked into the fuel lines and into the engine. However from what i've experienced, when that happens the engine usually dies rapidly and refuses to start until the water has been drained.

my two cents

another possible cause might be your air filter become damp, how long u haven't replace your air filter? or is it too expose? And maybe your ignition system wiring shorted also will happened that.
