Paint For Rusty Exhaust

Recommended Posts

The high temp paint doesn't seems to live up to its expectation.

Will see if the rust master works to prevent new rust forming again.

dun use the rust master for the headers cos it doesnt withstand heat!

i personally tried that method b4, give three coat of rust master then spray three coat of rj brand high temp spray...thought it will work..after three days can see everything melt...waste my time only..haizzz

i reconmend u to use the spajard brand high temp manifold spray..IT WORKS!!...my headers have been black for three months already(A very satisfied customer of spajard) :cheer: :cheer:

I use the spajard paint also. Bought at Mah opp SLT for $10.

The colour of the header turns from black to grey now, some already came off.

maybe its bcos of the rust master u coated on earlier.for me i just sand away the rust, try to make sure no debris no the headers then spray the manifold spray three thin layers.

it was shiny black at first then it turn matt black...after three mths its still staying strong.

After 3 days, the stinking smell diminished. The colour of the pipe turns grey, can see some paint shed off exposing the metal underneath already.

I tried a hi-temp black spray paint... already about 1 mth after respraying... still black... the whitish-brown thingy are dirt... so i'll find a time to clean it and see whether is it still as black. No paint peeling tho. :thumb:

  • 1 month later...

The first attempt failed, the pipe rusted after 2 month, same as before.

The second attempt, the pipe still looks matt black after 3 weeks, still monitoring. This time I only sand and spray a few coats of high temp exhaust paint.

I guess rustmaster cannot coexist with high temp paint.

how abt s4 head :? using high temp spray will fade :? i mean within a mth :?

I heard it will stay matt black for more than 6mths. Remember just sand and spray with high temp paint (brand name is Spanjaard), do not use rust master.

Hi all, I just spray my s4 pipes with Spajaard spray. after 4 hours, I went riding to orchard. I spotted that my 4 pipe top part becomes grey due to the heat but the bottom still black. Is this normal? Bubbles olso start to form on those parts which I spray too much. Don't really look nice liao.

With great Power, comes great responsibility.

Exhaust being steel based no matter how you spray or put anti-rust also will rust again. Due to heat, the steel becomes more readily reactive to oxygen and moisture in the air so cannot be help.

Maybe the best deal is to chrom the whole exhaust? I thinking of chroming my whole scooter exhaust....hopefully below $300...need to find source.
