i would join the motorcycle club.

I see that this thread is quite old already and still there is no one out there taking care of bikers.

if there is a will in this - perhaps it might be good to get the current bike groups already in existence to spearhead this effort. This will provide an instant base of knowledge as well as members.

my two cents worth.

Started and shut.

Anyway, upz for this, 5yrs down the road (and nor archived by the mods yet!) :thumb:

Just to rekindle a little flame:

We've got

- better media now (we've got MCA magazine which is great)

- more well formed and organised MCs

- larger online community

- always passionate riders in SBF

My personal thanks to all that have tried to make something like this work.

Non-profit (does not mean charity)

- able to sustain and run with serious time and effort commitments by committee members

Promoting Values in

- all aspects of road safety

- acceptance of motorcyclist welfare and safety to other road users

How (starting off)

- initial membership of x to be free (to make up numbers sizeable enough to be heard)

- close working relationships with authorities

- gain awareness through other mediums (magazines / online)

- continuous programs and events to keep the association alive and keep promoting its message

Perks

- Bikes and accessories shops offers (and whatever perks they can offer in return for exposure)

- legal adviser (pro-bono) for SERIOUS disputes

- financial / insurance adviser for claims and counter-claims

- towing services (probable tie-up with towing service)

- other ad-hoc promotions / events, inclusion of perks from new merchants

- others (list will go on)

Now that everything's more or less stable (personally), I'm willing to put in more time/effort/money with the help of a few good buds here. Hope to get the ball rolling again. :goodluck:

From AMC:

All advocacy work undertaken by the AMC and is constituent members is conducted by a dedicated team of volunteers. These people are committed to motorcycle safety and riders rights. With most issues, persistent effort is required and can take many years to show results. Without the ongoing commitment of these people, riders rights and safety issues would be steadily eroded.

Well said.

Bro,

I think many of us are for this, but seriously for start up I think this $$$ is really important, cant just rely on volunteerism.

wow, so i was not alone to think abt such things.

however, i think e only possible way is for a recognised org to start it off. so as to minimise re-inventing of the wheel. (and a recognised org will probably already be self sustained in terms of cash flow :cheeky:)

LTA? Driving centres? If some "big enough" shot were to head it, high chance to catch on wan ma.

i think there are other clubs like HOG and STOC and Team 1 and Team 27 and so on. but they all sound so individualistic - Harley ONLY, Honda ONLY, Lacer ONLY etc.

Come on, before we have all these individual clubs we shd haf a "big enough" group 1st wat?
