hi guys,

I bought a bike FT plate on August 2010, which have COE ending on July 2011. The cost of the bike purchase is inclusive of 10 yrs of COE renewal. The COE price at that point of time was $1300+. The loan term for the bike was 18months. As of this month, Feb 2012, which is the last installment to be paid, the shop does not want to accept the payment and i was told to top up $300+ for the COE renewal as the amount they renewed the COE was $1700+ which was on the month of FEB 2012. I dont think its reasonable enough for me to pay the COE difference as the price of the bike which i bought is inclusive of 10 yrs COE as on the date purchased. The installment amount i paid is already definitely inclusive of interest, so needless to say, the COE amount i paid is inclusive of interest as well. By hook or by crook i told the shop that i wont pay that excess amount as it is definitey not my fault. They should have renewed it the moment the bike was sold to me. Lets say if the amount they renew the COE was $1, i dont think they will return me the excess amount. Rite now i'm still waiting for a call from their finance department as i told them i need the sales receipt and whatever contract i signed when i purchased the bike. I'm not naming the bike shop as i believed the shop is one of the reputable shops i've known.

The question i wanna ask is that, can this matter be brought up to CASE? Need some guidance and advise from u guys, thanks.

Hi Zaki. First of all. I think you should post this somewhere instead of here as people seldom see it. Now, when you bought it, was the coe bought at all by the shop or the shop say they will buy it when your coe is ending and when your installment is finished then they will buy it. It all depends on how you agreement is, isnt it?? If the total price is including coe which had been bought August 2010 at $1300 which is confirmed by LTA, then you are right. Unless, in the purchase agreement, you and many of us dont see that sometime they will put on small print, you will have top up the remaining balance. Hope it is not so.

Thank u for ur reply, as wat stated in the agreement, the total cost price of the bike is inclusive of 10 yrs COE renewal, so i believe it does not matter if the COE price increase or decrease rite? They themself admit that they renew it late. From wat i see it, they are expecting me, as their customer, to cover up for their mistake.

Btw i'm not sure this is the right place to post this issue, mind helping me where's a better place to post this?

The tread Chatter Point is a good place. Anyway, from your story obviously, the shop is trying to cheat. But you still need to check your agreement letter. See any hiidden clause or not or just bring to Case. If you notice, your heading doesnt cause many people to open to view.

If it says so in the agreement I dont see why you would need to top up.

Tell them to honor the agreement. Let them know you will be seeing a lawyer.

If they refuse go see a lawyer and make sure the lawyer cost is borne by the shop.

if it's in the agreement stated black and white, i'm sure you have a case right here.

let us know the outcome whatever it is.

off note, which shop is it since it is not at bukit merah.
