schaeffer 15w40 review:

changed out scnell 5w40 after 175km and poured in schaeffer. warmed up awhile and the engine is significantly quieter. On the go its noticaebly smoother during midrange. Smooth humming sound can be heard more over the rattling. But knocking sound is still there under load. Maybe I need a 50 wt oil le?

Just clocked 180km on scheaffer. Still smooth still good. Will update you guys at 1000km. I usually go cruise at 90 -100. rpm 8-9k. on highway. High shear high temp will be the main test for my bike. YBR125. air cooled W/O oil filter.

Thanks for sharing and looking forward to your update.Cheerios

just changed my oil to delvac mx on my scooter. 1st time using mineral on this bike, yet i feel still smooth as previous oil (Redline 10w40 fully synthetic). initial startup definitely the vibration n noise slightly more (thicker at low temp), but quickly goes away wen engine warms up. probably cux its new, but lets hope it lasts. btw still RM20, however stocks depleting. don't even have 5L bottles anymore (GP ESSO).

read from m'sia forums that since Petron (philippine oil company) buy over Esso malaysia, they rebranding the stations and products. so good bye to cheap mobil products from bolehland. :( but i saw the Petron brand got quite alot of oils. saw a fully synthetic 15w40 HDEO for RM42. looks good! might try that next.

A ride a day, keeps the doctor away!

my friend got a "fake" oil filter and passes to me when he visit Indonesia. i just use it thinking it should be fine if i just don't use it as long as i will for original. yesterday while changing oil, i notice some metal bits at the drain plug area. when i inspect the oil filter, the filter had damaged and that might explain what happen.

most likely the "fake" oil filter can't take the pressure of the oil flow and the seal give way. another reason to use only original parts.

Yah oil filters are alr quite cheap. And seeing hw often u nd to change them, its not worth saving a few dollars n risking the internals of ur engine.

true. i always use original part. my friend got for me the non-original one so i just use it since already got it... never expect it really so bad. haha...

Yes.. Got the oil filter from FJT for my nighthawk 750. 19 bucks. Thanks alot!

Now for the update of my oil review for schaeffer 7000 15w40 semi syn. I'm amazed at what this oil does. Its absolutely quiet and smooth. Not the anti friction smooth but buttery cushion smooth. Engine purrs and humms instead of clicking and clacking. gear shifting is like butter at 800km mileage. Usually other semi syn will start feeling it becoming hard to click into gear. engine is warm to touch after 10km ride. Usually its hotter. Not thick till it bogs down high rpm performance. Overall good stuff.

I guess schaeffer are just being honest its semi syn. Nowadays most fully syn we buy are actually not really real synthetics after all. Mostly group III oils i guess. Will continue using and tell you what happens.

Any one with any 50 weight oil to recommend? I changed the oil on the nighthawk 750 to schaeffer 15w40 and it started making clicking noises. I suspect its the timing chain tensioner. I contacted the previous owner and he said he was running 50wt oil.

I'm thinking of trying schaeffer but they only have 5w50 fully syn. I'm afraid it'll shear too fast. Anyone tried it with an old engine? Or maybe any HDEO that is 50wt?

Air cooled bikes are highly recommended for thicker oils such as 50wt and higher.Especially for those older engines.
