Tiger 800/800XC.

Reviews by bike magazines/websites are very good for this adventure bike. Great on the road, great off-road (not motocross extreme-ness of course).

However, I have heard negative comments about the Triumph distributor in Singapore i.e. Mah Motors.

Any bros here care to share their experience with the bike, and with the local agent?

I am looking for a second bike to buy for adventure touring purposes.

Cheers.

I just bought a dorso 750 from Mah. Like the bike. I was considering the tiger, r800r and the duke. Aprilia was a late addition to the list. Ended up with it because it seemed better value to the other three. Why are you considering the tiger; because of the touring/adventure riding capabilities or for the ergos?

Hi! Have you started riding your dorso yet?

I have checked the price of the tiger, and the BMW F800GS, but not the Dorso 750. What's the price since you mentioned better value?

I want a bike that is specifically meant for touring off the beaten path i.e. not just the highways, but into and through oil palm plantations, dirt roads, up hill. A versatile bike is thus necessary. Such bikes will not be the best in everything, and I accept that. Looking for the best all-around machine for someone that spends 70% on road, and 30% off-road.

Comfort, speed, reliabile, plenty of suspension for the off-road, good low speed handling and torquey at the low end for the off-roading.

Yeah, had it for a month. If touring and especially adventure touring is on your list I would say dorso is definitely out. Its quite heavy though lighter than the tiger but the main issue is that the tank is tiny. I have to refill every 120K or so though I am ham-fisted. It would also be a shame to strap luggage on all this italian beauty. Its really quite a narrow purpose fun bike. Good for city riding though, narrow and high-great for squeezing between lines. Handles great and got torque in the right places for that as well. The ergos are also bang on for me. I think the standard version can be had for around 21K new, I got the factory for the suspension/brakes.

Looks like you are enjoying your baby VVP! ;)

The factory is beautiful, and if i am correct, it comes with carbon fibre fairing parts too. Refilling every 120k? That's really a pain in the ass for touring. Needs to at least do 200k and above for touring purposes. You are quite right, the ergonomics of the Dorso seems to be built for riding aggressively in races, or squeezing in between traffic. I don't think it was built to handle luggage racks - as compared to the GS and Tiger that already has got built in rack mounts default on the bike. They also come with some added features for touring such as a bigger electronic powerplant to power all the gadgets like GPS and charging handphones etc, plus a windshield to deflect wind.

Doubt anyone actually puts a windshield on the Dorso.

Enjoy your ride buddy! ..by the way: important question -> what's your experience and feedback like with Mah Motors so far?

Puig make a windshield for dorso. There are also luggage options for the commited. Its just not me, if I was buying for touring I would go for the Tiger or 800ST or the GS depending on whether the emphasis is on touring or adventure bit of adventure touring.

Factory comes with better suspension, brembo brakes, gel seat and yes all these bloody carbon bits which I could well do without. The whole petrol tank is carbon. Certainly looks nice but I worry a minor drop would cost a bundle to repair.

Didn't have any problems with the service at Mah. I think once they figure you are after an expensive bike they will be very friendly. But I guess the real test will be when I start taking the bike for servicing.

niceee. im eyeing both the dorsoduro and tiger. how is thr maintenance/servicing.for.aprilia? same like ducati? like valve timing belt etc? paiseh dont know much about italian machine.

also bro let us know when you get the tiger. think its more valued.for money vs the gs but i feel its more.direct competitor is the versys. what i dont really like about these bikes are their narrow 150mm wheels haha like not fierce haha but think they will be thr most comfortable for pillion, long distance and luggage.
