Went through ERP gantry without IU..

Went through 2 ERP gantrys at Orchard, and my bike has no IU as it is taken out now.. how? what is the penalty?

 

also, there was no camera flash..will they know?

isit registered with an IU??? if it is, put it back, then go to VICOm and ask them inspect.. but dun connect the wire to ur battery.. if they say y nv connect say tat dae ur maech change ur batt.. but the fine is 70 for each

if u go in between car then most prob wont kenna.. but if u alone.. there might have chance to kenna.

between or not , sure kenna one....2 gantry =140bucks..me kena before..no IU...managed to appeal for 1 onli..so me paid up 70

I think most likely will kena...To what I know, the gantry has a camera that monitors all vehicles from the minute that it is on. Whatever stunts you pull, no cash card, damaged cash card, IU faulty, no IU, incorrect insertion of cash card/ wrong card inserted will generate different error codes. So if you kena, they will know why you kena... Good luck to you. You can try to appeal to pay for 1 instead of 2 X $70 bah...

I agree with you that it may not be in operation. When it is not operating, going past without IU means nothing.

Kopi-Jac : Why not try again and go in during the operating hours and see if you get the letter within 2 weeks bo?

No IU = 70 bucks? Is it the same with insufficient Cashcard amount but with IU? I tot it was $10 + the amount needed to pass thru at that time?

if a IU is registered with the bike then its only the ERP charges u need to pay..jus put back ur IU but dun connect one of the wires , so went go inspection say dun know not connected properly.. then at most u pay only the ERP charges..

 

I know cos i kena before, my IU then is faulty and so i didnt bother put cash card and went pass a ERP gantry , recieved a letter asking me go for inspection as they cant detect the IU when i pass the gantry .. in the end i only pay

guys, just some 2cents from me...

why bother to mount back but don't connect wire? and in the end still kena $70 fine?

what i did was i mount back the damn thing, connect everything, bend the bracket in such a manner that the IU is "vertical".

went for the inspection the inspector check everything ok. he say its ok leh.

i tell him then how come liddat? what happened? he check and check find no fault. he void the summon.

he says that it is because my IU is positioned in a way the gantry cannot detect, i tell him how i know ah... IU dun have user manual. he waive the whole damn thing.

actually the gantry is able to detect ur IU in WHICHEVER kamasutra position you position. the gantry is very powerful. but just that they cannot find a fault to fine you on... they cannot summon you $70 for a perfectly working IU unit with good connections...

so "create" someting that is not your fault, for them to pin point on and close the case.

wiring never connect is YOUR fault btw, cos when you insert cash card got no light from IU uint, so you should already know its not working.

just my 2cents worth. but dun try anyhow hor, dun spoil market hehe...

ERP only few dollars at the most, to go to VICOM to do all this is not worth the few dollars saved. it just happened that day that i passed tru gantry by mistake cos i went by the wrong route.

 

oh yes, for those who think for why the hell I got an IU but never mount, reason is that the IU mounting bracket broke. i was lazy to get a new one done, and i've never liked the look of the IU on a bike. so i thought why not take it out since i do not enter CBD during operation timings or carparks with barriers...

but the IU unit is an important thing to have. not having one on your bike is like having a hole on your shoe's sole, you gotta be careful where you walk and step on... if you get what i mean

went thru the outram park gantry with faulty IU but with cash card inserted...

2 weeks later letter came ask to go fer inspection....

ask my mech to fix up the thing since it was just the wire......

went fer inspection told the guy everything was well get the letter stamped and went off

paid nothing....nt even ERP charges

Tried placing the IU below the pillion seat when I just got my bike (was the bikeshop guy's idea not mine)... the gantry was able to sense the IU when I rode through the gantry without a pillion. However, not when there is a pillion... I received the LTA summon letter ($70) from the mailman who personally delivered the letter to my doorstep 2 weeks later (very serious, man) ... ... immediately, went to the bikeshop to mount the IU at the front (FOC, of course), went for VICOM inspection (FOC, as well) and appealed at LTA personally... the appeals officer did not belive me at first but luckily I went passed the same gantry (the one behind Heeren) 2 days before the offence was committed... I asked her to check their records after which I only paid the ERP charges...

Cause I always ride my 2nd bike without IU pass the gantry. They will send a letter informing you that you need to go to any VICOM centre to inspect your IU.

 

The only trouble is to go get your IU and connect it back to your batt. And bring a normal cashcard along. At most they will wave their magic "wand" and it will detect the IU. After that they might just come out some excuses say your angle of your IU not right or cash card faulty.

 

No summon though...
