Selling off my super duper under utilized Suzuki DR800.

 

Model of the bike is DR800 SL Model, one of the very first batches of the DR BIG series. The SL model is the same shape as the older 750cc DR-BIG it originated from, but with a bigger engine, making it the BIGGEST Single cylinder motorcycle in the world. For an idea of the bike's capabilities take a look at the DR-BIG descendants the DR650.

Scarlet has been with me for 3 years now, and we have been to Thailand twice, KL and Cameron Highlands once.

The first pic here was taken at the bottom of the mountain last year when we went to Cameron highlands in June and the other at the Thai border later in year 2011.

 

Not trading with other bikes, because I already got another bike (my first 2B bike) and a car.

Thanks actually wanted to rebuilt the entire bike to restore it to mint condition when I bought Scarlet in Nov 2009.

It's not everyday that you can find a rare bike like this in reasonably good condition.

 

 

But then had a little "accident" in the year of the rabbit and now 9 months later, have to put oversea riding on hold and concentrate on putting baby chair in the car for my little "rabbit girl".

Yesterday while riding, idling goes slower and slower until die off.

Turtle haven't sent this bike to Planet since the last oil change, you say liao immediately go.

 

Got to be something loosen while riding.

Got 1 time was one of the bolts holding the exhaust pipe dropped off, my header was hanging 1/2 way with only 1 bolt while riding. The idling also was like that.

 

If not will be fuel pump spoil like early this year like that.

Going to let Ah Chong take a look, see if got other possible reason.... ....

 

Like 2 years++ back when I got this symptom was because I was new to the bike and didn't know I was riding with choke on.

 

Anyway I am not going to sell this bike away unless I am sure it will be running well for the next owner.

 

In the mean time, a friend of mine SMSed me to ask if he can have the boxes.

If there are no offers by the end of this week, then I will be selling off the boxes to him.

Back from Planet, the cause of the problem is .... .... fouled spark plugs.

 

Just changed the engine oil (Motul) and oil filter too, since it's only 270km more until the next oil change.

 

Ah Chong said the bike or any bike for that matter needs to be run at least 3 times a week, 20km or more to make sure the parts like the bearings and chains all get used and lubricated, otherwise even internal parts like the spark plugs also will also spoil.

 

So really want to sell this bike away because it is super duper under utilized as I got a car and another 2B bike too and it's a shame to see a great bike like this one waste away because the owner has no time to ride it.

I remember riding with Simon and u when u just had bought this bike. Ur bike stalled near Clementi ITE 9nly to find that petrol finish liao. Sad to see u sell this beauty away. I still got our pics. Ups for you bro.
