All in ard +-20K OTR, including original matching top box.

Yes, I think should be mine. They called me yesterday informing me that I can collect the bike today.

Regarding the price range that I mentioned earlier, please don't use it as a reference point. Their listed price in FB is $21.4k without box.

My situation is a little unusual, therefore there's some price difference.

From what I see so far, they are a reliable dealer who's frank in the price they can or cannot give.

I have asked some agents and dealers before I book this bike, the reason why I go to them initially was also because they are recommended by one of the agent.

Cheers

Where do you guys mount the IU? Can't mount on the mirror handle ...

I collected my x10 500 executive yesterday. Here's my first impressions so far..

- Overall the build quality is good. Even though alot of plastics, but there's no creaks that I notice. The unit that I get has a loose right mirror, but after tightening with spanner, its back to become usable. When the bike is cruising along, mirrors are clear. Only when moving from stop to start, the mirrors vibrate and becomes a little distracting. I guess its the characteristics of a single cylinder engine.

- The dashboard instrumentation panel is full of information. The LCD together the speedo/tacho/fuel/temp meters give loads of information at your fingertips. It even tells you what is the outside temperature, though I'm not so sure how accurate is it. There is a graphical depiction of the current preload for the rear suspension. Any adjustments can be done electronically via 2 buttons. In short, the instrumentation panel feels like one of a car.

- The bike comes with immobiliser built in and I was advised to keep the master key properly. From what I read in the instruction manual, there is supposed to be one more code card that goes with the master key. I didn't receive the code card, not sure how important is it, anyone can advise?

- The seat is large and comfortable, but I feel like my leg has to open wider to put my feet on the ground. I suspect this bike will be suitable for people of taller stature. Btw I'm 1.81m and I feel relative comfortable when footing at traffic light, but not the best feeling when I need to weave through traffic jams.

- Front and back comes with LED lighting. The front part has a streak of running LED that is, from what I read, similar to the BMW C650 which is supposed to improve visibility to other vehicles.

- I kindda like the look of the exhaust pipe on this bike. It also has a heat protection panel that prevents accidental burns.

- According to the dealer, the bike cannot use a standard mount for the IU unit. Therefore I will need to get a custom bracket to fix the IU unit onto the bike. A little bit of extra cost here.

- The bike comes with a side stand and centre stand by default, in which both will cuts the engine off once engaged.

- The side stand acts as a handbrake as well. Once engaged the bike will be able to be parked on slope with ease.

- The under-seat compartment feels like a mini boot of a car. It has inner lighting to ensure ease of use in the dark. For even more storage space, I think its good to go for an extra top-box. The under-seat compartment is of carpeted material and may not be suitable to put wet items (raincoats?) inside.

- A first full tank of Shell 95 costs about $28 after discount. Pumping of petrol is quite easy as the location of the inlet is at an accessible place between where your feet lies when sitting on the bike.

- First ride at about 80km/hr yields around 28-33 km/l.

- From stop to start at traffic light doesn't feel very fantastic, but its acceptable. As this is my first scoot, I find the initial pickup feels quite different from a manual motorbike. Not sure if it will improve after running in.

- When the bike starts moving at a comfortable speed, notice it always hangs around +-4000rpm. This is where the bike feels the most smooth with least vibrations.

- Wind protection is decent so far as I have not bring the bike up to very fast speed yet.

Overall so far so good. No major problems.. Cruising along the expressway is very stable and brakes are very good. Cornering is smooth and predictable too. Only pickup from standstill is weaker than what I hope to feel. Let's hope it will improve after running in.

Cheers!!

Yeah, after collecting the bike, seeing it in front of me, midnight blue is a great colour.

Thanks for your write up! :thumb:

Was there yesterday as well. Just bought a brown 350. Should be collecting next week.

Noticed your IU was taped, and was wondering how else to mount the IU other than the custom bracket for the handlebar / mirror.

Was thinking if it is possible to slot and mount on top of the dashboard (between windshield and dashboard).

Or the other option is to put in the left glove box, but may not pick up by ERP gantry (hmmm...maybe it is a good thing  )

Enjoy your ride! Can share pic once you have customised your bracket? Thanks!

I think this is the first thing we should do :

http://www.x9ownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=23212.0

Basically :

A post from maxi muppets

I have one of the first x10s registered in the country.

It has been absolutely flawless BUT

there is a serious design issue

The fuse carrier is located at the back of the bike under the little flap. It is easy to get to if you pop the seat and then unscrew the 2 screws.

The flaw is that the underside of the fuse carrier is open to ALL the dirt and rain and everything else that can get through the gap.

My X10 has been off the road for 8 weeks whilst a complete new wiring harness has been sent from Italy.

ALL the contact have corroded

If you have noticed poor starting, cutting out, inconsistent fuelling, random lighting or anything else it means your wiring loom is starting to corrode!

Take it to your dealer and ask them to lithium grease the contacts and make a flap or housing to protect the fuse board.

Since mine was diagnosed my dealer has fixed 3 other x10s wi the SAME problem

Good luck and great riding

Rac, Thanks for the tip. I'll take note of this potential issue. Not sure if I know how to fix it myself, but will try to find out more.

Congrats to you too!!

I just thot of an alternative way for the IU. Maybe we can explore using the 3M Command tape. I used it in my home for items in the bathroom. Its definitely waterproof and it can hold strongly items of up to 3kg.

I think I'll try that first before I go for the custom bracket.

Cheers

Got my 350. Quite a lot of vibration during idle and below 4000 rpm. Is this normal? Above that is smooth. Hope will be better after run in. Find my X8 smoother. Of course can't compete with power.

Posted

Is your X8 125cc version? I went to ask ADH about my X10 500 vibrations.

According to them, the higher the cc for this model, the stronger the vibrations from initial move off. This is due to the characteristics of a single cylinder engine.

And does ur X10 has ASR? If you feel the lack of power when moving off, you may want to consider switching it off if it's not raining. This is because ASR will limit the engine power output for safety reasons.

Mine is 350 version. I believe it's 330cc. The power is there, just the vibration issue at idle and low rpm. Hopefully it'll be better after run in and with better oil.

Btw, I've shifted my iu and taped it on top of my right glove box. I think better that way. But got to look for better quality tape. Maybe 3M Command you said?

Posted

Icic. Yeah 3M command tape works. I taped it to my handlebar on the left at an angle. It stays put even with the vibrations.

But I hear that if we go to inspection like this may not pass. Will see how it goes when the time comes.

Great!

For all X10 riders pls go check your battery compartment where the fuses are. Noticed rain can sip through from above. Also water splashes from rear wheel also can enter the fuse compartment from below. I've managed to use amaflex (the tape used for aircon pipes) to customize and seal from below. Also I'll be using tape to seal the gaps on the battery cover. Hopefully can minimize moisture from corroding the electrical connections of the fuses in the long run, thus causing various electrical issues.

I'll check with ADH once I'm free regarding this issue.

More info refer to this http://www.x9ownersclub.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=23212.0

Other than this the scooter is very nice. Rides and handles well, powerful and smooth acceleration. Torquey mid range for overtaking. Cruises easily at 120. Haven't tried higher as still running in.

Posted

Just to clarify. I've no problem with the bike. The issue I mentioned above may or may not be a problem in the future. Maybe I'm overreacting. Did it as a preventive measure. Also for those with electrical issues may consider checking the fuse compartment at the back and bring up to ADH. Hopefully with enough cases, Piaggio may acknowledge and do something about it.

I checked with ADH the corrosion issue as described by the forum, but they said that the issue is not affecting the units in Singapore. Not sure if it is true. I guess only time will tell.

Must we use scooter oil for X10? I'm thinking of using Liquid Moly or Motul 300V 15W-50. Suitable?
