Ha..ha...servicing & maintainance are part and parcel of owing a vehicles. I would do the basic before every trips even if it just a 3days travels. I'd rather spend alittle amount to maintain than to repair which would always cost more.

Any idea how much a Chain-clip cost? Going to either get or buy one from motorshop.

I thought rather spend $1000 to do some preventive maintenance rather bike break down and spend more than $1k to tow back and repair.

Mine is the rivet link, the clip link is shown as the picture above. Advantage of using a clip link no need for rivet tool and it can be DIY easily to replace the chain. Rivet link its suppose to be safer.

I get what u mean. I went to MW to buy the clip. They quoted me sgd8.00. I didnt buy cos I know its cost less than that. Thought of going to LAB but headed to BW instead. Luckily I didnt buy the clip cos my bike is using X-ring riveted type, not clip, as the mechanic showed to me.Ha..ha.. I didnt even know mine was rivet-type. So I do not need to buy the clip. But I definitely need to change my sprocket cos its teeth all sharpen already. Told the mech. to reserve for me a set of chain & sprocket, going to change mine.

Got my Ram mount today, gonna fix for the trip...

Its good to buy one clip just in case the chain break can do a temporary fix with the clip link as most dont own a riveting tool as its not cheap and seldom use. And its easier to carry a clip than the rivet tool.

I ever heard of suggestion from forumer that you tape all your fairing screws with adhesive tapes, so if it comes loose due to vibration the tape will hold it from falling-off.
