bro.. theres 3 choices..which ever choice you want must face up as in north... (i.e. taking the knob as a compass) when u usually

main petrol.. you push ur "ON" to the north..

off petrol.. you push "OFF" to north..

reserve .. push the "RES" to north..

get it? hope it helps..

btw, ur choke shud not go back by itself.. shud be able to stay there on its own.. might wanna check out with the mech..

2) What performance mods can i make for SP?

 Hehe.. Although i dun have a bike yet i would like to find out as much as i can first b4 getting one ah. :cheeky:

Thanks once again to those who reply.

Some simple answers which i try to provide to the best of my limited knowledge,

1.

When a intake valve opens, it is to admit the air-fuel mixture. When it closes, it is to retain the air-fuel mixture and pressurize it for its eventual transfer through to the combustion chamber. There is also the exhaust valve to release the gases emitted by your combustion process. For simplicity sake, I will only touch on the intake valves.

For a given level of efficiency, more air-fuel means more power.

Engine operations such as timing, amount of lift and duration of the opening of valves are very different between those under high and low RPMs.

At lower RPMs, less air-fuel needs to be "inhaled". Thus, if the intake valves are opened nice and wide at very low RPMs, when less air-fuel is needed, unburnt fuel will be able to exit the engine leading to higher fuel consumption and increased emissions. It will also lead to rough low RPM operation and difficult idling, meaning a decrease in low RPMs engine performance.

A analogy for easier understanding is that if you keep your mouth open big and wide for water to flow in continuously even though your stomach is full, what do you think will happen? Either you choke/puke or you pass out the excesses through your rear.

At higher RPMs, more air-fuel needs to be "inhaled" by the engine. Thus to sustain the higher RPMs, the intake valves needs to open nice and wide. Otherwise you have what is similar to having athsma: not being able to get enough air-fuel due to the closing of the valve.

In conclusion, what we want is a balance. To open the valves nice and wide, like a inviting puss, at high RPMs, but not to open them as much at lower RPMs. This is why there is the Honda V-tec and the Toyota VVT-i, just to name a few.

2.

The amount of performance mods that you can carry out is so many that I will never be able to finish naming all of them. Okay maybe I can, but after using so much of my long-time-never-use brain powers to think and type, I am exhausted.

In short, I am lazy.

However just to name a few common ones, there is the big bore kits, the exhaust system, the brake system and last but not least carbon fibre fairings.

Some extra information:

http://www.tyga-performance.com/pages/NSR150.php

A former SP rider selling his V FORCE 2 reed valve:

Unless you do not intend to upgrade to a bigger bike next time or you have tons of moolahs to spare or you want to make this your project bike for track racing, go ahead with all the performance mods. Otherwise you can just be a ultimate poser like me, who is eagerly waiting and dying to upgrade while in the meantime trying to learn as much as possible and improving his riding skills so as to impress more chais.

Hahas! Just joking for the impressing part since my baby lurks around in the shadows of the forums waiting to catch me red handed.

My poor hands are tired. Kiss them please.
