check for engine sounds. any loose/funny sounding things or trembles?

can the engine idle without dying? can u get the powervalve to open when u rev it constant at 2nd or 3rd gear?

How easy do u kickstart it?

the rear suspension, does it bounce back healthily when u press ur weight on it? If it does not, try to make it less stiffer by the clickers and try again to see whether it does bounce back. Else, it's a goner. It must also not be overly bouncing without any damping (think of Amy Yip without bra). If it does that, try to stiffen up the clickers and see if it has any effect. Else, u can betcha to lose nearly 300 bux to rebuild ur rear suspensions.

the front forks, do they leak?

front disk brake change, rear disk brake?

pipe, make sure its stock. Does it gives too much smoke and noise since they claim its opened?

if u have enough cash, go for private sellers. u really can get something cheaper.

that's as much as i can think of. Newbie rider here. Welcome.

thanks for the reply naz... how do i check if the fork is leaking???

so lets presume that all is ok as u said is the price ok or can i still bargain somemore??

Do a few humps on the front fork.. (hold the front brake and hump hump hump so that if they clean up the fork before u come, the leak will still be evident)

Rub your hands on the fork.. the shiny part... caress it like how you'd caress my thigh if i am a chiobu and u are a dirty old man..

If leaking, u can feel its oily..

But somehow no need to touch also can.. if definitely leaking, u can see like dirt and grime trapped there with the oil..

Oh, I really forgot. Check for any black oil leaks at the powervalve area, engine and the gear cover area.. What u can do is just run ur palms at the bottom of the chassis (or like my brader, JoeIzDaMan say, CHESHISH), frame .... Well, I ain't saying its gotta be spicky clean, but of course, its not supposed to be black oily as well eh?

Pricewise, I seriously donnoe man.. FP plate really varies but I reckoned from shop, it sounds ok ??? Is it machine price or OTR?

I got my FN plater for like 2.8K as well machine price alone.. :hungry:

That's all I know man.. cant help much sorry

think abt this:

are u going to upgrade in a yr time?

FP plate should end in 2007, meaning after a yr of riding, the COE is almost up.

if u pay 2.8k, what kinda price u'll get if u sell ur bike in a yrs time when u are going to upgrade to a bigger CC bike?

as u can see those seller whose bike COE is ending soon is around $1k+++

u mean customise as in chnge everything into the color u wan?but wil it b expensive?spray heard that it will crack.then use sheet paper dun looks realistic leh.like very fake like that.kekeke..anyway thanks for the reply

I sprayed mine on my own and it lasted 2 years.

Spray the color u want and let it dry completely befor spraying again. spray 2 to 3 coats. last one spray the transparent one.

There's a shop in ubi dat does spraying. Dunno how much.

There're lotsa options.

1. Spray paint with those can sprays would crack if u do a thick coat at one go. But if u buildup from thin layers, it could last long (eventually will peel also) or for those who have pcc-induced hands, will result in uneven coatings, end up fuggin ugly.

2. Sticker coat. Why look fake? I used a glossy one and it turn out same as spray, only that it could last much much longer if being done properly. But of course, like paints as well, once u scratch it, it'll start to peel off bit by bit or if it's a result of fuched up job, it'll go bubbly and trap air and water, resulting in it losing it's adhesiveness.

3. Powder coat. Now this can be quite costly. But it's definitely long, long lasting out of all the options I used. Sent to a reputable shop which'll give u substantial microns of thickness and it'll last the weathers. Again, once u scratch a teeny part, it'll start to peel off drastically.

Naz,

i tinking of spraying my wr2 myself...

first sand down, then do i need to spray primer? would it be better than just applying the colour? my wr2 is white, i intend to spray red....

dun know when got time though..

That's what I know of....

Primer kinda binds the paint structure together to the surface.

Albert Motor in Bukit Merah Lane 3? Good luck. I am not saying anything. Just GOOD LUCK. I argued with the specky one before.

He told me, "How can you talk to me liddat?! I AM THE BOSS OF THIS COMPANY U KNOW?!"

Of which I replied, " And i am ur bloody customer "

Do refer to the Motortiam ratings thread. Please do.

hihi, a newbie here, i maybe buying a wr in a few days, may i know how much is it to repair the front fork if leaking?

Then wr accessiories exp or not? example, excel rims, pro taper handle bars, etc..

which shop to go to for accessioies and servicing?

thanks.,

yeah saw this offer over @ slackriders.. fn plate 1.1k coe n rdtax expiring feb 06..

any advice from the bros here? how much will it set me back to renew e coe n rdtax? den on top of tht still gotta get insured.. considering i just passed 2 mths ago only.. i probably need to lower the forks too as the current owner is pretty tall too.. im only 1.75m =(

Posted

To service front fork will set u back by 50-60 bux per fork and u have to do em both for balance, so prepare 120 bux.

Excel rims, try to get 2nd hand ones. Can range from 100-300 bux.

Pro-taper handlebars, also I'd get 2nd hand ones if they are in good condition. 100 plus for first hands?

Shops include Auntie shop (she's pretty much ex, no, not my ex, i meant expensive), ah boy for some external accessories (never for your engine parts please), or even Chong Aik for that matter. Take ur time to look around.

COE is pretty subjective. I heard it increases towards the end of the year. I remembered renewing mine at 600 plus last Dec. Then in January it stooped till 200 plus. Very kaninabey. But I think it's pretty stable now at 500-600 lah.

Road tax is 80/year. U can pay half yearly if u want also, no problem.

Inspection yearly at 16 lollers plus, provided u pass. Else, u gotta remedy your faults and return back to them again and again. If u sent thru shop, I heard at 50+.

U shouldnt lower the forks if u think the bike is short. No one does that. Instead, people normally lower the rear suspensions. But there is only so much u can lower. Some even make it less stiff so ur weight can sink it down considerably when u sit on it. But beware, a bouncy rear shock absorber could do ur handling haywire when u go roundabouts or when u turn into a corner.

Other methods include, shaving off the foams of your seat, cheapest and easiest way first.

Otherwise, try your best to control. Cos 1.75m is not that short dude. Be confident and enjoy ur ride safely.

my apologies.

forgot to talk about insurance.

If u buy insurance from Mistui Sumitomo, they don't do 2nd party insurance for bikes > 10 years old. I don't know about NTUC (your friendly supermarket) though.

I guess u guys know about insurances schemes, but I wanna practise my typing now.

Three types of insurance :

Comprehensive (1st Party), TPFT (2nd Party), TPL (3rd Party).

I am 27 this year. (u got any chai to intro?). My insurance for 3rd party from Mitsui is @ $180/year.

If u fall below my age, ur cost shld be higher definitely, more so if u opt for 2nd party.

Servicing is aplenty. If u go to Jalan Besar hub, there's lots to choose from. From Speedzone to Ah Seng (he's got one muthafuchin huge attitude crankyshat problem but he's good with ur bikes).

If u live in the West, u can go to Pang Scooters (they charge quite high but they do good servicing the last I went there)

If u live in the east, u can go to Dirtwheels (same as Pang Scooters).

If u want some TLC personalised service, u can contact LCBEAR350. He's a freelance mechanic in Tampines.

If u want some other services, depends on what style u want and from which country, price can vary a lot.

I think that's all I know. Anything else, u gotta ask the experts cos I am pretty mucha stinkin newbie who just talks a lot as well.

Cheers.
