Fast enough for a 300cc twin! Almost convinced now, maybe i'll put in the bazzaz just for a laugh 😂

so it pulls strongly to 160.... now i know, coz i never bring it past 130 before, and at 120+ it definitely feels it still has strength to pull strongly. the 160 to top speed region.... not really important to me anymore coz it looks quite weak past 160, irrelevant to me anyway coz i'll never hit that speed in local roads. up north maybe, but its also clear that at 160 is where you'll stop being able to chase after class 2 bikes if you ever decide to follow them.

but hey, its a great fun bike if purely local commuting. and i'm willing to bet great learning bike for any track newbies too.....

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!

*** UPDATE RECALL ***

i've called evershine about the recall.

you'll need your frame number for their reference, and you'll need to book an appointment. i think must about 1 week in advance, coz they seem fully booked for next half-week as i called. also, they estimate will take 2 to 3 working days for your bike to be left with them and they do the checks.

thats all the update i have. i'm sending mine in next week. the americans claim the engine behave differently after the ECU replaced, i will definitely put in a report here. watch this space after next week.....

Mech, i also just came back from Loois. They dont have that Euro Spec anymore. But they're waiting for the 2014 euro spec to come in november. Has got all the exhaust and mini bitd on them. Think i'll wait for that one. Price is also about 15-16K

OTR without insurance. M1 motoring sales quoted 12.5K machine only. But he added like 'will be 15K otr'. So i guess its around there price range

if its a 2014 model, and they can confirm will arrive next month, then yes definitely worth waiting for. technically the 2014 model is not different, but at least has newer and nicer colours, and it will definitely have the recall issues sorted out.

Mine was from M1 at 12k machine price offer, and worked out to a final price tag of 14.5k minus insurance.

***RECALL COMPLETED***

I've just collected my ninja from ever shine. They claimed both my ECU and ABS were replaced.

I asked for documentary proof for purpose of selling bike in future, but they had none to provide. They said any potential buyer can cross reference with them the chassis number to confirm the recall was done because they keep full records as per their requirement with Kawasaki Japan as an authorisd dealer. Fair enough.

The abs, there's no way to tell any difference coz I,m not about to purposely engage the abs....

But the ecu, indeed the startup idling behavior on cold start is different. It no longer climbs above your preset idling before slowly climbing down with a few blips. In fact on cold start it is slightly below your present idling, which is more 'normal' behavior.

But power, no diff, nor did I expect any.

I do believe the ABS unit used is the same Nissin unit as on the Daytona... that's why it was recalled too.

it is not the same. the ninja uses a one-of-a-kind smallest-abs-unit-in-the-world.

but its by the same Nissin manufacturer, made in the same factory under the same process that caused the defect in the ninja300. and thats why several models using Nissin abs units are affected. a friend of mine on triumph street triple also affected, and i believe there are other brands/models.

for mine, it was earliest next working day, latest 2 working days. they completed it in just one working day so i was able to collect next day. it is compulsory to call them in advance and make an appointment prior to coming down. expect the appointment to be one week in advance; they might be fully booked the whole week upon your call.

oh and have your bike's frame number ready when you make the call, they'll ask for it.

anyone riding the 300 got the fairing gap problems?

nearly 4 months of ownership, and no fairing gap.

american and european owners now suspect that extreme cold weather is wat causes the fairing to pop out; apparently the cold may cause something to warp. unconfirmed.

if you're concerned, maybe a short wait for 2014 model would be better. i'm assuming they would have sorted some of the problems.
