You are right~! My air filter super dirty and both tires pressure too low.

Now max speed about 120km/h but need quite long to climb to that speed when full throttle

Air filter or clutch...what i know 8k rpm should be ard 120km/h and 9k rpm can at 130km/h or near that speed limits.

sigh... always see this tyre pressure topic, really blood boil.

Always pump according to what ah786786 mentioned, 32 psi and 36, front and back respectively... but after few days (2-4 days), back tyre will lose alot of air. Think 4-5 psi. This should not happen, and it happened to dominick and mouse and of course, me.

Anybody else facing this issue?

will monitor again and see

front pump 38 psi so much?!?

Air filter. Mine ard ~9.5k rpm at 120km/h, maybe as i;m on the heavy side :cheeky:

If 9.5k rpm could be the clutch going wear off. Tire psi its depend...36 to38 should be ok.. because after 2 or 3 weeks , air pressure or tire pressure will go down..try it 1st n u can feel much better handling.

hi guys,

i'm planning to buy my very 1st scooter after years on a street bike ( can see from my dp an old school bike)..

read this forums which says good stuff bout the bike..but also regrets from 2nd hand users ( water seepage which fried the electricals, engine problems and expensive parts to overhaul must go msia to do)

would like a frank comments on riders whom have bought the bike 1st hand and had used it says 3 years or more?

would like to hear from the perspective of breaking down rate (i.e. bike more than 3 years), cyclical maintenance ( apart from belt n engine oil) wat else need to change cyclically..and err..is there a reliable, trusted workshop in the west..

please dun flame me..i'm only a noob.

TIA

might be water leaking from the engine area inlet tubing or air bubbles stuck in the tube, thus the pressure will force the water other way.Mine i just checked where the leak came from and found the tube was bent after adjusting it was back to normal.

Or can leave the coolant tank open ,and throttle hard ard 3-4k rpm the excess air can escape than see if the water level is correct, den can close back and see if problem still persist

den bring to taihin or AC motors which is together with WEDA where u can buy spares for sym. Both taihin and ac motor at ubi.

good to change also, since if not wrong 100ml,as the new parts break in the excess metal pieces will be in the oil.

Hi all,

I'm usually not on this forum, only will come on when my GTS has problems, haha.

Two weeks back, bike started to have burning smell and overheat (gauge goes up to 4 bars); brought down to Unique at Toh Guan (also did full servicing at $160, their package is the cheapest I have seen, changed horn and main headlight). They changed some small plastic casing thing, said petrol leak there that's why got smell, and I brought the bike home. Workshop to home is short distance, so bike didn't overheat.

When I went long distance again, bike started to overheat. Brought it in again Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday whole day nothing, tell me coolant leaking at 5pm, will cost $497 to replace. Asked for discount (since the last time I already spent $400+ there), dropped to $460. Thursday 11am tell me need to overhaul engine, estimated $1,500. They said the delay of 2 weeks doesn't matter as the corrosion has been there for a while. I asked to take the bike home.

Lower end stuff maybe, but I'm not trusting them with my life anymore.

I like how Melvyn and Dom bros always sign off with "Ride safe".

So now JayHO,how is it going?

The Only Bike shop tt was straight forward was Planet Motor but too bad he does not do scooter. You can try Taihin or Weda but at eunos area.If bukit merah near by u can try Pang Scooter.

Sometimes shops are lazy to sort out problems or find the main issuse with the scooter thats causing the over heating, thus its easier for them to "FORMAT" the scooter with overhaul.

The coolant leak can be possible to the water Pump which is sometimes common with GTS,or the pressure or coolant might be leaking into the cylinder that might contribute to the burning smell. This one sometimes its a simple process of doing a proper full flush of coolant from the system.

Sometimes when the coolant was not flushed properly, thats where the air bubbles sitting in the system causes the pressure to accidently suck the coolant liquid to the cylinder.

Hi ah786786,

Thanks for the insight. I called a few places, and Wing Yap quote me $800 max, even if change radiator. I use them for oil change as they're near my office at Balestier, received good news yesterday when they called and estimate about $500. I've seen quite a few Piaggios at their place, so I guess they know what they are doing.

I guess I shall have to wait for the bike and bill to be ready first before I can comment further. I already miss my bike!

hi guys, aiming to get a gts200. currently looking at 2 choices. 1 is a 5 yr old bike, 1 is a 1/2 a yr old bike. it seems that most gts200 gives problem between the 3 - 5 year mark? if that's the case, it would not be wise to get the 5yr old 2nd hand gts200 right?

and how much to change coverset (include the black plastic parts?) ?

thanks :)

Hi Sanseiu,

It greatly depends. I own a GTS200, 2005 version. It never give me the complications due to the routine mentioned by the manual. As long it is followed. Shouldn't see the high expenses needed.

When you take a bike new or old. Run thru a inspection check as for old bike. Do a full servicing and inspection at a reliable workshop before riding. Should be fine.
