Best time to leave is ard midnite, stop every 150 km for rest and fuel. Most important is safety gears and a gd rest before the trip.

Hey Rhema83, thanks for the post. So far so good with the Fazer; it has been very easy to maintain thus far. Although I don't have much to compare it to, the front suspension does seem a bit soft and there is no adjustment. Actually, this is the kind of stuff I want to discuss and learn from the more experienced out here when we meet up. For instance, sometimes I feel the bike is loose on some corners and I don't know if it is a riding position issue or in part to do with the soft suspension. Also wondering how to best gauge how far I can lean the bike over in a turn without risking a low-side, and also what is the threshold on counter sterring, i.e. how do you know how much force can you exert before it's too late?

Anyway, I shall keep an eye out for meetups and short trips.

Cheers

My first piece of advice would be to go to the Ohlins website and download the owner's manual. Yes, I know, your stock suspensions are not Ohlins. But the physics of suspension setting are the same. Set up your suspension with the help of a friend (in particular the free sag and ride sag) and the ride will improve dramatically. The stock springs may not be suitable for your weight (they are usually too soft) so if you reach the limits of the suspension, you can consider replacing the springs with heavier ones.

Riding before dawn can be quite brutal. I'd say it's not for first-timers unless you are part of a much larger convoy and moving at reasonable speeds (120-130km/h).

Hi All,

Relatively new rider here looking for a community of expats or locals who enjoy going on evening rides or day trips, etc. I'm American and bought my first bike here in SG about 9 months ago, (2009 Yamaha Fazer 600 S2). I got my license back in the states about a month before moving here and was lucky to get it converted to a Class 2 here in SG. I have been riding various bikes since 2005 on trips to Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, etc. but never owned until now. I chose a 600cc bike to start with and it has been a perfect balance of performance and practicality. I am thanking my lucky stars I didn't do something stupid like get a liter bike before gaining the necessary experience and discipline...(I was looking at an 05' FZ1 before choosing the FZ6).

I'm looking to network, get riding tips, plan some track days at some point and explore SG and beyond.

Just get to chance up your thread. Hope it is not too late.

My wife and me do riding frequently across the border - possible weekly?

Hope we can have the opportunity to ride together and share experiences

What time do you think we will get back to singapore?

And what's the Average cruising speed?

We dont have fix plans for time & route most time. But generally we r usually done after lunch & shd be back by 2pm latest. Riders who need to wld usually peel off & head home anytime.

We are not sticklers for time.

Just out for a relaxing ride .. Really.

Likely this ride would be shorter than the last & I dont anticipate doing more than 150km distance.

Speed at E3 - 110 kmph. Scenic back roads - responsible speed;

Key takeaway: relax & enjoy - safely.
