hi, pls advise on how i shd setup my home network.

basically i have a pc, laptop, broadband modem and wanted to have a wireless

network so i can work wih my laptop anywhere in the house

my pc is using win98se while laptop is xp pro.

shd i just get a wireless router with 4 ports and connect to pc. then settings change

via pc. i'm thinking my win98se might not be able to support the software for the

router...

also what type of router shd i get... i'm not into gaming, just normal surfing and occasionally downloads

thank you in advance

Modem connects to wireless router.. use a wired connection to your PC since it's not likely to move around and wireless for laptop. There is no software involved in connecting the PC to the router unless you are using a wireless adapter and you need to install the driver/software. As long as your PC has an ethernet port and the necessary driver it's enough.

If you don't have contract with any providers. I would advise to sign up with internet providers for maybe 2 years and get a free ADSL2+ Integrated Wireless modem. And they setup for you free.

E.g. $53.95/mth for 5Mbps.

Anyway, if both pc and laptop is using the network, you need a greater speed.
