Met one again this morning along AYE, simply sliced across me. Enjoying my ride at 95kph on the last lane, then came this "slicer", simply ignored him.

Greetings fellow Fazerians and whoever that's in this forum.. I got a piece of story to relate to everyone...

Last Sunday on the 12th of April,I was otw home on PIE heading towards Jurong after having supper somewhere near Mustafa.I was with my pillion.Weather was fine when I left Mustafa. It started to drizzle somewhere before the BKE exit and so I sped up riding around 120km/h.Just before the speedcam near the BKE exit,1 FY ???L black S4 rider purposely overtook me at a dangerously close distance.I didn't really mind cos I was like ''wtf?!Stupid rider!"

And then when I thought he had left me for sure,I somehow caught up with him again when he wasn't able to squeeze through the traffic up ahead.Realising the traffic was as such,I rode into the 2nd,and then 3rd lane and gradually sped up.'WAT I NOTICED NEXT WAS SOMETHING THAT I'VE NEVER COME ACROSS BEFORE IN MY ENTIRE LIFE RIDING ON SG ROADS...

Right after Clementi Ave 6 exit was the Bukit Batok exit and you know what???!!!

THAT S4 CAME IN TO THE OUTERMOST LEFT LANE RIGHT BESIDE MY BIKE WHICH WAS IN THE 2ND LANE.(DO TAKE NOTE AT THAT POINT IN TIME,IT WAS NO LONGER DRIZZLING.IT WAS RAINING NORMALLY)

HE WAS IN A SUPERMAN RIDING POSITION WIF BOTH HIS LEGS ON HIS PILLION SEAT,PRESUMABLY TRYING TO CUT OFF THE WIND DRAG BUT HE WAS ONLY RIDING AROUND 130km/h.HE GAVE ME THAT LOOK WHICH I THINK WAS SAYING,''Hey c'mon mate. You wanna see what SILLY THINGS I can do on my bike?!You wanna take me on??'Wtf?!Was he silly/stupid or just some low life freak or what?!

I think he thinks I'm riding a GSR perhaps cos mine is the FZ1N.. He might have judged my bike by my headlight I guess.. Traffic up ahead was quite clear then so well,I showed him what a "GSR'' can do:P.Me & my pillion was laughing hysterically when we got home!Wth was he thinking?!

I've seen "funny" S4 riders frequently too, the common thing they like to do when we met on the road is that they'll sneak up by my side and cut across me very fast. I rode S4 before, but how come I don't behave like that whenever I see a FZ6 in the past? :D

That happened to me as well..this morning!!

Face it, an S4 is a common bike. All kinds of ppl ride it, from the ah-pek to clowns.

Also, there might be some kind of insecurity or inferior complexity syndrome attached to some S4 riders (they might consider themselves inferior to riders of other 2A bikes.... CBRs, GSXRs, ZXRs, GSRs, XJRs) such that they'll go to certain.... erm... lengths..... to let you know that they exist, and that they're HOT!

I would like to find out whether is it possible for FZ6 to use a 190/50 (same as FZ1's) rear tyre? FZ6 is using 180/55. Anyone tried already? :)

I guess if it's only the rear hugger that's causing incompatibility, wondering would it be ok if FZ1's rear hugger so that the rear tyre can fit? Hahaha...

No no no no no no no no no.... and NO. It's not about the hugger at all.

Your FZ6 carries a 5.5 inch rear rim.

The FZ1 uses a 6 inch rear rim. We're talking width here.

You CANNOT safely fit a 190 section rear tyre on a 5.5" rim. What you'll do is to squish a wide tyre into a narrow base and you end up with a curve that is multi-radius (i.e.... not a smooth curve, but may be steeper or shallower at certain points).

What this will do to your handling and cornering? Not good, I can tell you. Very unpredictable.

You can put a 180 on a 6 inch rim as it will simply spread the curve out evenly, but not the reverse (190 on a 5.5). Think of it as you're having a 28" waist wearing a 32" pants... the pants waist will crumple.... Not good.

So please...

600s use 180 rears.

1000s use 180/190 rears.

Don't try it. You might regret it.

190/55 for mine.

Best of both worlds. Curvature of a 180/55 and the bigger contact patch of a 190/50.

But it's a waste 'cos it squares off more than a 190/50 would. So next change... back to 190/50.

but i'm not sure if the hugger really does affect in here... will it bua against the big tires?

No advantage of a 180/55 over a 190/55.

Stock size for 6" rim is 190.

Turn in rate is the same because of similar profile/curvature.

More contact patch. A 190/55 is basically a larger 180/55.

First see if your swingarm can accept a 6" rim!

Huggers... not a prob. Since there is clearance. And also, a 190/55 sits about 18mm taller than a 190/50. So it's not very far from a 180/55.

It's the rim that you have to worry about... and if you change the rim, see whether it can go in between your swingarm or not. :p

dey... why want to fit a 190 tyre on a fz6 leh? The engineers at yamaha who designed the bike factored in everything in their design, surely for good reasons right? an fz6 is not as powderful as an fz1, don't need as large a contact patch lah. If even fz1 also can use 180 rear, surely it must be enough for a 600cc bike right? U like fat rear tyres ah?

P-plate should be an attitude to safety and riding. There's always more to learn.
