toking about cats,

after de-catting need to add PC ah ? does anyone knows the theory behind it ?

errr dun really need la..

but if u do airbox mod and aftermarket exhaust need PC.

removing the AIS helps remove the backfiring after u change exhaust.

Regards

PCs are for the ease to make adjustments on the air / fuel ratio than to many try to meddle with the factory ECUs, which normally unlikely possible. PCs is a gadget that 'play' around with your fuel system by sending signal to your fuel system for MORE or LESSER fuel to be fed to engine combustion process.

New PC 5 includes the AutoTune box which monitors the air / fuel ratio through the O2 sensor. Signal then sent for the best settings within the PC and selection will be done automatically than need to replug the PC for updated setting when new part like exhaust system added.

General speaking, PC or other gadget let you tweak the A/F ratio setting for you prefer style of riding. For pickup, for lighter and softer ride, for top end performance... all these can be achieved by punch the keyboard to tell the BOX what you want. Of course, any how setting will result frying your engine fast. Which is why there is a profession call TUNER and Dyno machine..

A lot of ppl have the wrong concept that by installing PC you are having a fast bike & you must RACE!!! True & false. PC is to enhance or fine tune the fuel feeding rate and hence also to protect your engine from running too lean or too rich should any other factory set input is not correct. I had too many hard times by explaining to my friend who says me wasting of money for getting PC as i dun ride fast nor race my heart out. Another grp of friend who work on engine encouraged me to go for PC and mods. When you have good air flow but lag of fuel input - your engine will be running lean if your air intake is over the fuel injection threshold, PC will be needed.

Last time FI bikes were not common, carb bike 'play' with pilot jet and needle valve setting, DynoJet also have the jet kit in the market other than PC.

Just to share my opinion. I maybe wrong as me also learning. ;)

Hi bro,not too sure about the FZ6 but I heard that there are 3 cats in the headers, maybe you can start removing those(Cutting and welding required)??...Cheers

Thanks Bro, any idea where can i get it done ? Thanks

bro, no power mods r cheap...

but here are some suggestions usually ppl do for their fz6...

can google a bit out for oversea fz6 forums too...

since u not going into racing mode...

no need to get those add-ins stuffs that had been greatly recommended in the market e.g HP abuser, power chip, volt stabilizer, sprocket change, fuel additives, blah blah blah...

just change your exhaust to aftermarket ones + PC5 + air filter can already...

u'll get the robust sound, power & toque...

then, add in a bit of accessories, and there u r done! :D

IC, which exhaust and air filter are best for fz6 ? Never know PC already out till 5 liao, wow...:cheeky: me so out dated.

talking about pc5..u still getting?

after i wash air filter, my fuel consumption like ****!!!!! i am reserve liao

yes i'm getting it when i get my stingy scorpions... :D

ya, when air filter is cleared, air mod a bit mod, add in PC5 for performance, the FC will be like F... o_O

toking about cats,

de-cat is to let the output be better...

mod air box or add in aftermarket filter is to let the input be better...

PC here is the tune the A/F to your liking... :)

agree wif u bro...

install PC not necessary for race...

i wan a better FC on daily commuting, better performance during trips, blah blah blah...

bro, u can get it done at seng kwang...

my frns gone there to ask, they can guarantee u that once they cut, take the kittens out, and weld it back, no one else can notice the cut...

i duno how true they are...

but they are of a certain reputation la... :)

exhaust is up to each individuals bro...

most of them like LV cus it's bassy and cheaper, + it comes with the link pipe where one of the kitten will be out liao...

leaving 2 kittens back there, if do de-cat, it would be cheaper too... :)

air filter most bros go for k&n or bmc... :)

Please check if PC 5 works with your model of FZ. They claim it works with 09 FZ1, not sure if it works with other yrs FZ1.

last night i go in pump myself...

pumped vpower...

Vpower is good... smooth rides with it. I pump once in awhile esp during holiday, daily work, 95 is smooth for me, though lack of the ohmm drag.

de-cat is to let the output be better...

mod air box or add in aftermarket filter is to let the input be better...

The Pussies convert the unwanted 'toxic gases' through the heat reactions

to the environment. The pussies require certain high temperature to works. Hence the engine dun feel right or HOT as the exhaust is restricted. (see the attached pic). Smoother intake works best with good output flow.

Yes bro, 2 sided coin. Have it to so call 'tweak' your preferred ride and some even set for 'fuel economy' BUT off tuned it and you will have a fuel guzzler for non linear fuel consumption to distance & power graph, WORST, fried the engine till you drop...

It is all up to individuals, To ride it as stock, is already go enough, some prefer 'can give somemore powerful ride?' then they will have means to 'powerup' the machine.

Normally, PC works best with packaged parts like exhaust, air filter. Have these 3 items then do a dyno run to make best result, though you can dyno with PC & stock setting still can give smoother riding result, but afterward you install pipe then got to dyno again money will be wasted.

Oh that explains the exhaust back firing i have,

my current fz1 statues :

with LV

no de-cat

intially when i had the LV fix on, backfiring was there, when brough to my 1st servicing, i believe the mech tuned for me as after i collect my bike the back firing was gone, or was it becos my RPM was tunned up higher ?

btw, how to tune the rpm ? i tried turning the white nut at the side bottom of the fuel tank but it dont seem to move -.-

for 07 models, i'm not too sure liao...

i checked on 08 models, according to HKL & RaceWerks, they said compatible with PC5...

not to say 09 models la, 100% compatible with PC5...

since u use LV, i believe it comes with 1 link pipe where 1 of the cat is out liao... right?

then did u de-cat the last kitten?

if u did, perhaps that's explain the backfires...

if u didn't, it could means the cat is not "strong" enough to withstand the backfire...

yes, to tune the rpm is on the left side, below the tank...

if i'm not wrong, turn anti-clockwise is to down the rpm, clockwise is up the rpm...

but i alws prefer to give such "holy" job to the mechanics, in case i screwed it up...

hahahahaha... :D

anyway, i'm jus purely guessing on my above statement, cus i'm have little/none knowledge on fz1... :p

..we're all learning bro :> I saw a pic of the FZ1 06 and theres a cat in the link pipe, header & can(3 altogether) but for the later models like mine, there are only 2 cats, 1 in the header are & 1 in the endcan.

Bike will feel smoother after the de-cat and a PC will add on that..Cheers

Hmm, i love your big HEAD with the PICHUDOT letters... :shy:

I dislike seeing doctor. The old doctors are good but newer gen doctors are crappy... I think if i study enough, i will be better than most of them. They scare die and dare not commit to their findings or giving those non-conclusive answers! NB! Like tat my son also can, my daughter cannot, later she will open you up to make sure all things is fine then give you 2 days MC.

No choice lor, maybe need to go and make some donations to pay off their cars or good livings if swollen eye persist.

Sure bro,but the sequence of mods might be different. First mod was knocking out the cat in the header and an air filter, the result was slightly more throttle response and smoother power delivery.

Second,I cut the airbox and that put the boundries of the ECU to near it's limits,it did add a lot more response and torque but the bike vibrated a bit more and heated up a lot faster.

Then,I decreased the diameter of the secondary throttle bodies, this slightly increased the initial take off of the bike. All the above was done without a PCV,endcan & dyno tuning. The bike was feeling very rough but performance greatly increased at this point.

Finally once I got the endcan,PCV+tuning,I was in heaven... 'FAT SILKY POWER!' is the only way I can explain it..haha.

Now the bike feels like a monster as compared to stock.. smooth, improved torque in low end and mid range and consumption is about 1km less for every 1L of petrol, which I can live with.

Hope this short story helps bro :)

Hi dudes, anyone changed their front sprocket for the FZ1 to a 16T?..according to some,it increases the top end as well as the pickup

Which is a reliable brand and whats the damage$$ for a good front/rear sprocket and a chain set?

Tks

Interesting.

U had your filter and airbox cut, plus the cat knocked out, and the ECU still managed to compensate the AF ratio?

I was under the impression that the ECU had a narrow adjustable range.

I already have the filter and the airbox cut out, perhaps I shd do the de-catting too. :D

Downsize front sprocket will decrease your top end a bit and improve ur low to mid-end. Your speed will not be accurate and a speedohealer will correct the actual speed. You FC will increase also.
