I switched to Z8 from stock and used them for 22350km over a 20-month period before it kind of hardened and tyre texture became flaky/sticky. both Z8 and PR3 performs well in dry conditions but PR3 has slightly more grip in wet conditions.

Work to ride and ride to work :dot:

Hi guys.

I actually posted this in another fazer thread. I don't know what's the difference between the 2. But here goes anyway! Sorry for reposting!

I haven't been riding for years and have been out of touch with bikes for a long time.

I am seeking to get myself a FZ6 or a S4. Am more inclined towards the FZ6 though. :D or will fz1 be more valuable for money?

I have a few questions. It will be great if any brothers are free to help me.

1) I heard there are 2 models of fz6? Naked? Sport? What's the difference other than looks? Got price difference and value? Which is more popular?

2) am seeking the bike for occasional touring and fun ride around the island. Thought of getting the side boxes for touring. Will both fz6 models be able to fit side boxes? How will the aero dynamics of the bike be affected when 2 cumbersome side boxes are fitted? Asked about this cause a friend once told me having the rear top box has less vibrations and less possibility of a tank slap when riding at high speeds above 220kmh. Those bros who have the side boxes installed, how is it like when u travel at high speeds around 220kmh? Got encounter cross winds on NSHW before? I encounter before on my R6 last time. But not too bad. But with the boxes, I don't know...

3) how much will the biggest box cost? And what's the biggest size for the bike available that u guys have heard before?

4) what should I look out for when purchasing a used fz6? Anything important I should look out for?

5) what are the common issues/problems of this bike that you guys encountered?

6) are most parts easily available? My 05R6 had inverted forks which is not available. Had to ship from japan... :"( which are the reputable shops for servicing fazer?

Sorry for the questions...

Thanks for your time in reading!

Happy New Year everyone!

Cheers!

i rode both s4 and fz6 before. both are good bikes.

1) yes 2 models of fz6, n/s. slight difference in price. fz6s slightly more ex, i think more popular too. IMO, i would have sticked to my s4 if there's only fz6n.

2) yes both will be able to fit sideboxes.

3) the biggest readily available topbox should be givi 55l. you can order those singpost box as well. :cheeky:

4) usual things when buying a bike. do note that 2004-2006 fz6 and 2007 onwards model are different.

5) to me, fz6 had below expectation suspensions. which i had changed to 07 r6 forks and ohlins rear suspension.

6) the whole fork assembly is not wear and tear part.. :cheeky: most wear and tear parts are relatively easy to get. where you brought your r6 for servicing last time? can just go to same place if you trust the mech.

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

Alpha82,

Happy new year! It depends on your demand and usage of the bike, if u are demanding for power obviously u should go for a litre bike as it got more potential. Price differences between a 600 & 1000 not much, parts wise quite ready available at automachinery. Myself own a Gen 1 fzs1000, so far it performed to what I need and not much of major problem.

I was infd by my shop that my current one got something wrong. Dunno the motor or what not functioning, or not functioning properly. Have yet to personally see it. Hence I'm just checking ard first and enquire should the case be true.
