Need Help! Kana Court Summon

Hi everyone. I need some advise.

 

Ok...cut it short...

 

I kana a total of 3 summons for goin thru the same ERP grantry without cash card. Ok...LTA issue me repeated letter of summons. But I am not aware of it...coz for the past 1/2 year...I am staying wif my sis at her house.

 

Ok...after a few months, expected....I kana court letter liao to answer the charges above. But again...I never see the court letter...and eventually miss the 1st court date.

 

A few months later, they issue me 2nd court date. Which is today. Ok...this time I never miss liao. As I just finish the court session.

 

They bring forward my case to 19-04-2007. And told me tat my MAX penalties is a fine of $9000. Ya...is $9000!! Why so much??

 

Anyone encounter similar case?? Or never one can explain to me why so much?? My friend caught shop lifting only $500.

 

Mine is just only 3 ERP...and at the most miss one court date....but how come max penaties can go til $9000??

u shuld have went to appeal before the 1st court date.. they will lessen it.. when it goes to court, u will normally pay thousands

ignorance is not an excuse..not attending a court hearing is serious..a warrant of arrest can be issued against you...and when you have a warrant of arrest against you..handcuffs can be used when you are caught.

 

if you were not staying at your own registered residence..you should have went to a NPP to change your address...so that official corresspondences could have reached you.

 

troublesome? now you got yourself into deeper troubles...

pay the $$$. dun ever appeal.

 

U will nv win. whether are u innocent does not matter... everyone using this excuse. U are just one of the many many using this reason.

dewei, dun get me wrong, i'm not trying to make things worst. but these are the questions put to my fren when he went to appeal regarding the same matter. pass thru gantry without cashcard and subsequent court summon.

 

1)did you know that u were going thru the gantry with IU spoilt or without cash card? if yes, why din't u get it fixed?

 

2)the letter was sent to ur kin or family's address. they shld inform you. if they didn't, you are responsible to check with them. if you changed ur address, u shld inform the nearest police post nearby.

 

he told them his IU spoilt, they post the above questions to my fren. and told him one more thing. they check his IU records and found that he was using his IU into other ERP parking areas.

 

in the end he LL. want to think of more reasons also scare. in the end paid fine. cannot remember how much thou.

 

please ppl dun flame me. this exact incident happen to my fren, juz giving an insight as to wat they would say or ask.

i think now the best is to try to explain to the court why you missed all the previous letters.

just make sure the reasons you give are the truth!!

he went to LTA and said he overlooked it..

I kenna "Insufficient cash in ERP card". $70.

 

Why so much? I tot only $10 + amount you should pay for the gantry? Why double standard? When is $70, when is $10?

hmmm... when did u pass thru the gantry? Was the letter the first letter that u received?

As u mention "2 weeks", so could be it more than 2 weeks that y the second letter is $70?

 

Cos my frd also kana $70 b4.. dunno call up where and ask.. he was told that the first letter was already send to him...etc. But he still never pay(cos he duno ma), so end up second letter sent is $70.... End up, go back home search around, found the first letter($10++) lying around somewhere.... LL pay up... hopes this might helps...

i don't think so leh.

 

even for car, i only kena $10 admin charges + ERP charge.

 

i think you missed the 1st payment date, that's why compounded to $70.
