Hi all,

Are brembo brakes really as good as advertised? What about R1's OEM brakes (made by brembo) in terms of performance?

I have checked with a bike shop he is quoting me 270-280 for the R1's OEM brakes, is it a good buy? advise pls!

thanks all!

Dun bother man! Stock will do the job ;) save up the money for bigger bike

riding a kup has its advantages on a crowded road. the maneuverability is something that is hard to find on a class 2A/2 bike. i am not intending to upgrade in the near future. and by near future i mean within the next 3 years.

Agree on ur point :) after taking my class 2A and realise the big difference between kup and super4 in terms of handling, fast manoeuvre around. I dunno much on the bremdo but i know the quality and the build is very good :) hmm after changing brembo u can tell ask how the result ^^

Be happy for what you have =D

changed to rcs19 master pump, rizoma reservoir amd 2pot brembo calipers. the performance of the brakes is now super levelled up. there is very little free play for the brakes. instead of using 4 fingers to pull the brake lever, i use only 1 or 2 fingers to pull the brake lever. a slight tap is enough to brake sufficiently. if you pit 4 fingers there you might risk jamming the brakes. overall is very very satisfied with the system:) cheers to all

how much did you spend on it?

do you think with the set up it is safe during E-brake? one might over compress the brake level and cause the bike to skip? personally i think the problem with small bike with braking is it small tyres more then it braking system.

have u wonder if u e-brake? this is very dangerous. the tyre infront is not euff to take the force and ur tyre will jam and u will get tank-slapped. unless u riding a busa, their stock braking suck so must change. just be careful man! =D

about 2 weeks after i use it. after the brake pads seasoned, its smooth as silk. tried e-brake on straight roads without cars, wheels didn't lock like previously and the stopping power is good, much better than stock.

Not recommended for new riders as you really cannot use 4 fingers to control the brake as u will use too much force, instead, only 2 fingers is enough to perform the brake as the level of play (from never depress brake lever until fully depress) is very little only.

Set up of this system cost me slightly more than 1k.

Bike shops need people like this to stay open so just be glad. It's his money anyway. At least he paid for original brembos (I hope) rather than some delivery guy I met on the road riding an RXZ with a 8-pot (yes 8-pot) brembo brake caliper from JB (which I strongly doubt it's authenticity).

How I know? Because I asked him. :)

rien d'autre que le max.

Sometime why original use those because they have a reason to do it :) they got safety guide line for all these and they must pass before selling :) haha for me i poor i dun spend 1k on brake because i think stock with hel brake hose will do the job already ^^

Good luck with your riding.

There's a thing for manufacturers to make some standards in some products and not include some over-powered stuffs.

Maybe it's just me.

Hopefully you won't have to jam brake on rainy days.

And that you don't speed as often on Mandai Road with 7 points left on your waist.

Woah! Battlax wo! Haha and ur ur bike mileage only 10k plus?! Sibeh swee!

Ya.Battlax only for me as i previously learned a lesson that bad tyres will cause u alot of pain when you self-skid on painted markings on the road =(. my milage is 10k plus yeap, but previous owner changed meter at 60k+ so total milage u can say is near 80k. i only use my bike to go to and fro work, and the occasional town outing with my gf on weekends :)

I have a rough idea of the braking power, that's why my "advise" of you being careful on rainy days when you have to jam your brakes when someone infront suddenly slows down a hell lot.

That said, still Disc brakes are disc brakes.

When it's pouring, you won't have 100% efficiency the moment you pump your brakes.

It takes some time for the water to be off the discs and the brakes to be more efficient.
