A bit of an odd question i know...

Am looking for a brand new 600cc sports bike.... but was wondering which one has the most comfortable pillion seat as this is the only reservation my girlfriend has! I used to have a VFR400 but she said the pillion seat on that was very uncomfortable.

Also, where is the best place to buy?

Thanks in advance!

Comfy???

I share seat with all my pillions...

Main thing is more confidence in sharing seat as in if my pillion were to sit on the pillion seat, she will have to stretch quite abit to grab the tanks and the gap between us is quite big..

for older models, there's F4i and VFR.

Tried sharing seat with my pillion once, could'nt fit in properly and felt my balls were being squashed real bad. Been pillioning people on my r1 on the pillion seat, no complains.

Nowadays, the new sportbikes even smaller seat than last time. Agree with the rest, sportbikes are not designed for pillion comfort.

03 to 06 model CBR600RR pillion seats as hard as wood. not exaggerating.

by comparison, gsx-r series pillion seat very soft and plush. by comparing with cbr.

a bigger issue is, the pillion complain not comfortable because of hard seat or riding posture? because if the issue is pillion riding posture, then you have to decide which is more important: riding the sportsbike of ur dreams or ur girl's comfort? coz no sportsbike has a radically different pillion posture.

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!

hehe, thanks for the replies!

Yeah, I know that the sports 600s will not give *much* comfort to the pillion but was wondering if any of them would offer *any* comfort at all!

I think overall my motivation would be to get a sports 600 anyway - i'm looking at

Cbr600rr

R6

GSXR750

so most important priority is getting the sports bike... pillion comfort comes second (i'm selfish :D) but will try to accommodate her where possible...

Was thinking of popping down to Mah Pte and/or Boon Siew Honda today. I know they're both relatively big dealers but will i get ripped off if I go to either of those to make a bike purchase?

Thanks!

Ah, I don't think it was the posture - it was just that the seat itself was very hard!

Can I say buy a CBR and then buy a more comfortable seat on it?

i haven heard of any such method.

i haven seen any aftermarket pillion seat for the cbr. plenty of single seaters, but i haven heard of any pillion seat.

not sure if you can re-wrap the seat with softer filling. part of the reason why its so hard is that its designed with very little filling in the first place, so end up like sitting on the plastic piece itself rather than like on a gel cushion filling in the case of the gsx series.

of coz, just because i haven heard and none of the cbr6 in this forum have done it doesn mean it cant be done. maybe they really do bring in aftermarket gel seats for the cbr from overseas. i haven seen it thats all.

and must warn u though, if indeed your girl unhappy with the softness, and u gonna buy the cbr and leave as is, she really will be one irritable passenger during and after a bike ride. then again, no complaints from my own girl (but plenty from guy friends who shut up the minute i threaten to leave them to find their own transport).

and i donno if any change to the 07 model cbr6 with regards to pillion seat.
