they said that the engine is a gem, suspension is setup abit soft on factory settings; perhaps because it is adjusted towards an asian

some say the seat is comfortable for long hours, where some say the seat is uncomfortable.

what's your opinion?

Two brothers cans sounds better for me. Anyway it's out of my budget for now :).

I do find the seat is hard and front fork bouncy. Rear shock not soft though.

It comes with adjustable suspension but I got no experience in suspension setup ...

Called Hong Leong they have a Race Blue on display in their show room. Will drop by this Sat to take a look.

Muge, experiment with the suspension. Before you do that take note of the stock settings so you can revert back anytime. There is only preload and rebound damping for both front and rear, no compression. Firstly set the free sag and rider sag. Google too much to type here. This sets the ride height and gives you the correct sags if the springs are right for your weight, otherwise nothing else matter regardless of how many adjustment available. Then there is only the rebound damping to fiddle with.

Here is my opinion having ridden this bike for a few days.

Engine:

Awesome. Since I'm still breaking in, I haven't tested the full rpm range. It can accelerate very fast if you twist throttle.

In A and standard mode, there's jerkiness in throttle response when you off and on throttle. I dont use A mode much though. Still getting used to the bike in b and standard mode.

Suspension:

Definitely need adjustment. Front fork is bouncy for me. Will try to play with this.

Brake:

It's great both front and back.

This bike is very light and nimble. It's more nimble then my spec 3. It's really give me confidence during lane splitting.

There is very small under seat storage and I can't find any helmet hook.

The water splash from rear tire is bad. It will splash your back during wet weather. Even worse if you plan to use tail tidy.

Muge try adjusting the throttle free play to minimum or non see if it help with the jerkiness.

Is the heat from the engine very hot waiting at traffic light to turn green. I hope it isn't noticeable.

hows the seat comfort? what do you reckon?

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car

and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.

Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall,

torque is how far you take the wall with you.

HL unit is silver fork :S

Thanks, will try that.

It's hot, but still bearable for me. Coolant temp can reach 100°++, but by then fan will turn on.

I have been reading up the FZ-09 forum quite a bit. Stock spring rate for fork is 0.76kg/mm and shock is 560lbs/inch if anyone is interested. Front rider sag if you can get it close to 35mm and rear 30mm you should be good.

Had ordered a Penske rear shock, just the very basic one for riding comfort. The front should be ok for me since I am featherweight. Maybe a change of oil to 5wt or 7.5wt for increase damping only for the RH fork.

How much is the penske shock + shipment?

Any shop recommended to help adjusting suspension? This thing cannot be done alone by urself .. no choice.

Get 1 or 2 friends to help. There isn't many things to adjust on the MT-09. The shop wouldn't know the best settings for you...where you ride and how you ride the bike. As I said 35mm front and 30mm rear rider sag for peload. Rebound damping is to balance the bike so both ends come up at the same time. Turn the clicks clockwise to increase damping(suspension extends slower) and counterclockwise(suspension extends faster). If your front is bouncy count 3 clicks clockwise and see how it feels.

just ordered one for $18500 otr from M1 motoring. Decided to collect on Jan 2014..new year gift..lol

been researching on this bike for quite a while and mostly, the downside is the suspension. Yammie mentioned its due to the bike was made using an asian weighing around 60kg as a reference. So, since mostly are angmoh who were the critics, perhaps thats the cause of it ey as they were like definitely above 60kg..ahah. The other downside mentioned was the A & standard mode. Perhaps the jerkiness could be due to it being supermoto influenced? But well, glad that you did mention some good points :)

Thanks anyway for your info, but most importantly, hope the engine is real real good ey ~

Same price as Yamaha Comm (Hong Leong). Any idea why didn't you get from them instead? The seat cushion is like a board .. damn hard but narrow. Its also low which I can flat foot completely. Was waiting for MT9 but I am quite disappointed with the quality somehow so looking @ mt07 as Boon Siew is not going to bring the CB1000R ... damn!
