Checked out the cbr400r. Pricing is 16k otr w/o insurance. As for the cb400x unsure but abt slightly cheaper.

I'm feeling a whole lot better bout buying my ninja.

And thats just the 400. Wonder if they marked up the price of the 500.

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!

Is this a good price or not?

confused about bikes prices these days..

Put things in perspective let you decide.

Ninja300 costs 14.5 otr w/o insurance. It makes 39bhp and 27 Nm. It weighs 174kg.

The cbr400r costs 16k otr w/o insurance. It makes 45bhp and 37Nm but weighs 192kg.

Worth it? Maybe. You decide.

I would rather get the full cbr500r. Same bike. Same weight. 48bhp and 43Nm. But if they mark this up by just 1k, it will cost 17k otr w/o insurance. That's very close to an xj6 price already. If they mark up by only 1k....

The CBR250R at under 10K otr w/o insurance is a good bargain buy.

The CBR600RR 2013 Repsol at 20k w/o insurance would be a better buy if both the CBR400R and 500R is going to cost 16k and 17k.

Last I checked a 600 is 23k otr. Which is neither 'good' nor 'bad', just that all jap 600 is that range and jap 1000 go up 28k, so if thats wat u want thats wat you want, thats wat you pay.

And a cbr250.... Well I personally wouldn buy a 2a bike with a power output no higher than a 2 stroke 2b bike coz thats wat I rode in my 2b days...

Downgrade because now father of 2 kids, the fact is somehow my riding slows down. Dun get me wrong: riding my 600 hard and fast when young and single, plus track, was the most riding fun I ever had. But maybe 2 young kids change my perspective dats why I started riding the 600 slow, and it just became boring. Really.

So instead of renewing coe, I decided to downgrade. Why the ninja? Coz ideally I want a brand new 400cc inline4 sportsbike, but all of those are at least twenty years old. I dont want super4. So... See for yourself how I arrived at the ninja...

I bought my Revo the same price as stated above. No regrets.

Better engine, higher power, VTEC, proven-technology and well-known bike.

I do not see the rationale for them to charge the same $$$ for a 2-cylinder parallel twin engine compared to an inline-4.

They don't even sound like a real big bike. :|

It is a fact that anybody who wants a brand new 2a bike and his utmost concern is performqnce per dollar, a super4 or gsr400 are the only choices, full stop. All others, be it the ninja, or the three versions of cbr400r or even drz, are for those who strictly dont want a super4, like me. Then can compare 'the rest' against each other. Putting the super4 in the mix is pointless.

if revo same price at cbr400r, it would be better to get revo instead. inline 4 still sound much better and more power altho its so common everywhere.

I am so pissed offffff. everytime i google like cb500 or ctx700, the price is US$5000 or 7000 respectively. now cbr 400 is 15500 sing $. even with us to sing is 1.3, even with tax and coe, import blah blah blah, its so ridiculous.

What do u guys think the top speed in stock form would be? Will it be faster than 2b 2t bikes?

Top speed, yes.

Acceleration? If the 2b rider manage to exploit powerband, might match the cbr400/500 up to 120kmh. Thereafter the 400/500 should have power enough for a final burst where the 2b 2t can still climb speed but past its optimum.

I am guessing based on reviews of the cbr500, and assuming the 400 is only marginally stronger than a ninja300. Also based on my experience on 2b 2t and comparing to my ninja.

the rationale is twin bikes will give you better fuel consumption / lower maintenance / torque is easily accessible.

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car

and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.

Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall,

torque is how far you take the wall with you.

I know the feeling. Everytime I look on US and European sites for bike prices, I feel cheated. Sadly that is our reality and we have no choice but to pay the price or leave the country. I believe Malaysia/India have similar prices for large capacity bikes.

Then there is the licensing system .... but that is another debate for another day.

Posted

same argument applies to 2-stroke vs 4-stroke, although the 4-stroke engine would need twice the capacity to match the performance of a 2-stroke. dats why the power/torque figures of a CBR250 is only slightly more than an RS125 and figures of the ninja300 is only slightly more than an NSR150SP. but the 4-stroke equivalents have broader spread of torque, and better mileage despite running twice the capacity.

there's the ninja400 too!

the ninja400 is just like the CBR400R, except even more pointless.

it is exactly an ER6, originally making 71bhp and 64Nm, weighing in at 203kg. then they castrate it to 400cc making 42bhp and 37Nm. notice the final power figure very close to CBR400R? but in an even heavier body.... and higher price tag! 15.5k machine price!
