the question is, is the 400 series made differently? why would honda design the original 500, purposely to be economical, and then to cut down further the costs they build in thailand... and after that decide "i think i can shorten the stroke just a bit everything else exactly same for domestic market and some asia markets"... and they build it completely differently, entirely in japan?

I had a personal confirmation from someone I know who is working for Honda in Japan. the new CBR400 series are made in Japan with "IMPORTED" Parts from overseas. I wouldn't be surprised if most of these came from China. Cheap labor, got people there still willing to work for food and rags.

I dont know about you, but I really hate China stuff especially for bike parts.

thats interesting info.

if wat you say is true, then the 400 series is not really 'made in thailand' after all. but then its not truly 'made in japan' either, maybe 'assembled in japan'. if you have no confirmation where the parts are manufactured, my guess would still be thailand, coz thats where they're manufacturing the 500, and the parts are the same. would still explain the thai stickers on the 400s.

but all thats relevant is the quality of the final product. and i still trust the honda badge.

but lets not forget, the japanese car manufacturers only started having their recall issues after they started outsourcing their parts outside japan....

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!

Well said.

But if i were to choose non- Jap parts, i would definitely take Thai rather than China one. I really hate China stuff.. PFFT.

Same with 'KTM' parts made in India, cutting costs seems to be their main purpose.

years ago, when spec 3 1st came out, i heard of people getting "mild" electric shock treatment when riding in the rain. Then I asked my shop & understand that the electrical wiring was outsourced to China. Subsequently for later batches, they stopped the practice. As for Revo launched in 2008, the quality on electronics not as good also. I asked my shop for an example. Aside from the chronic issues (by honda standards ) on the EFI, the coil also wears much faster. Eg, on older pre revo, coil typically give way after the 8 year mark. Replace = $400. For Revo, can be as be as early as after 3 yrs......no doubt it cost slightly cheaper at $300 to replace. Was also told these days, the Japan stamp not so meaningful anymore. Coys just need to fulfill certain "criterias" to chop stamp the "made in Japan". Its the cheap labor in developing countries. Manuafacturers all sing the same song. No where to run. Just like handphone market. Samsung, Apple, Nokia, all China made. Just compare the durability of yerteryear's Nokia & todays smart phones or even "brick" phones for all that matter. I too hate china made stuff. But what to do, no choice. Even Ducati has started a plant in Thailand. Maybe the Jap supersports 600cc and above are "truly" made in Japan? But the important thing to me is, are they passing the cost savings to end users or is it Honda save 70% & biker only safe 30% ( if at all)...

Where outsourcing is concern, think I will choose Thailand over China & India.

Bro which shop did you get it from? Im getting mine and still considering which shop to go to for the best price..thanks bro

bro, saw in other thread that NC700x is 16K otr. why not take ur class 2 if u have not? The price diff is now so marginal. Class 2 can easily clear in 2-3 mths.

From : http://www.motoroids.com/news/ktm-duke-390-vs-honda-cbr400r-spec-to-spec-comparison/

Actually shows that the Duke makes almost the same power/torque at almost the same RPM, while also being 43KG lighter ( dry weight ), less 26cc, less 1 cylinder. But of course much higher compression at 12.9 vs the Honda's 11.0.

Did see in Jpn site that gear 1-5 Vtec engage 6300-6750 rather than just indicating 6300.

Does that mean that Gear 1-5 the engagement is variable depending on how u throttle. ? ( better fuel eco?) Cant make out jap words clearly.

I did not take a pic of my bike yet. but u can refer to this site for the pic. its the original honda crashbar.

http://shop.plaza.rakuten.co.jp/yokorin/diary/list_daily/20130323/

just scroll down to the 400x pic.

As for the price of crashbar and mainstand, its 260 each. Costly but i wanted to fit the crashbar on ASAP for safety reasons :)

Do inform me if anyone knows where to get the aftermarket pipe and engine guards. Cheers.

Hey bro, managed to visit speedway motors and talked to Jacklyn. The price is ard S$15k region OTR. Price excludes bracket for box, main stand and crashbar. Are you quoted with the same price when you purchased your CB400X? and did you install box for your CB400X from Speedway too?

On a side note, does anyone here knows where should I get:

1. Trax top box

2. Givi top box

3. Hepco & Decker boxes ( Gobi and Explorer) -> but i heard water can seep into Explorer? can anyone confirm it.

I'm quite attracted by the package offered by Speedway. Still havent visit Dynasty yet, unsure if Dynasty will offer the similar package as Speedway.

Thanks alot guys.
