I bought my 1996 sporster sport in 2001 for $15.8k with stage 1 set-up & 2 set of petrol tanks+ fenders .... 12 years later im surprise price still ,,, so high..

Having only recently successfully sold off my '99 883 sportster, I can say with much certainty that carb sportsters are still very much in demand by those who know their bikes thanks to its high potential for customability and scarcity - there are less than 90 carb sportsters running around in SG right now. And the sound is so much more classic harley than the newer EFI bikes. Anyone who tells you otherwise is probably trying to lowball you.
