Better to stick to HD original batt, they last the longest...

Yuasa unless from Japan, if not it's crap... even Japan ones do not last as long on a Harley...

As for the IU, just tap from the headlamp and u will have it on automatically when u r riding and off when u r not. :)

hey, little late, sori, but thanks dude, i should've read this before the installation.

I went to tony and got a yuasa, and tony made an extra fuse for me to remove when not riding, your idea is best, shouldve gotten this from you befor i made the change, but i'll have to get them to do that the next time i do any servicing.

now I manually remove the fuse after every weekend ride.

if u guys have any meet up (for the sportster grp also) pls let me know or PM me, many thanks :)

(btw i just posted on the sportster thread to meet up for sportster this fri nite, hopefully got riders up for it)

Hi TWdude n Seaking, maybe I share some info on e battery wif u guys. Harley batt are made by East Penn in USA. They do make e same battery without e Harley logo n package n it's juz selling for abt 55usd. I bought 1 n shipped it to Sg,total cost with shipping coz me abt sgd150 and I juz plug n play myself.

Y Harley battery is better than Yuesa, coz Harley battery is AGM (absorbed glass mat) type,it's made with gel n sealed. Yuasa do made them too. Most Yuasa in Sg r acid type.which may start to corrode ur bike when it evaporates over time thru e seals.

Hopes this does help.

thanks kep,

already changed yuasa, missed this thread.

will take note in future, it was really informative. :)

Guys u all tried wif low profile tires b4?my street bob I keep e stock rear shocks height of 12.5inch,but I use 180width n 55% profile for my rear.it got lowered in e rear but the front didn't go too low,so I juz stalled stock length fork springs n intiminators.in fact the springs spacer came 1/2 inch shorter,so overall the front I lowered by 1/2inch

hope you guys can educated me abit.

any bro can tell me how many km will one full tank last on a sporty?

belt, EO, Air filter, can last how long? how much to change?

front/rear tires cost how much?

wan to get a feel on the maintainance cost cause i will most likely ride it everyday if i buy.

Bro TWdude26 how much you pay to get it lowered? lots of other stuff need to change? cause seems like the rear seat need to be push foward and the frame seems different izzit due to the front spring?

Posted

The small sportster 48 tank can probably last you at least 120km. Bigger tanks like those of Nightster probably can hit 180km at least.

Belt is not something you change very frequently. I do not know much about that yet. EO change is about the same as Class 2 Jap bikes.

Front/rear tires, i think with a $400 budget, can get a decent set.

Actually, the fact is that maintaining a harley is not more expensive than a class 2 jap bike. It might even be cheaper (eg, hayabusa use 4 spark plugs, harley use only 2)... The thing that makes owning a harley expensive is the amount of parts available to mod it into something you call your own.

If you can live with riding a stock harley, then you will be owning a low maintenance bike with a hardy engine. :thumb:

Powdercoated it all blacked n wrapped in clingwrap now.

Hey bro,

Well its a semi HOG ride. Riders from all over do come and ride along. Its every 1st and 3rd Friday of the month. Main aim is to get together and get to know all our fellow HD riders and not forgetting the purpose of a good coffee session. Bike and mod and accessories discussions too. Meet the old timers and be helpful to the new owners. Its always great to know that we are looking out for each other on the road, regardless rain or shine.

This ride is open for kopi joint and cafe suggestions, if you know a good spot to sip or bite, just suggest and the ride captain will be more than welcome to embrace your ideas.

See you when you get on back then. Have a great trip ya.

Yo bro, it was done some time back together wif other stuffs so can't really rem...

But the lowering block for the rear and progressive springs up front should cost less than S$400

nothing else needs to be done except getting a shorter side stand.

And my front looks different because that's a wide glide triple tree wif 150 width tyre ... :)
