1) Ah Yee's method

I heard of this method too. Wanted to do up my Shadow's spoke rims but decide against it. Basically, welding seals the spoke ends up and tubeless tire will be in place instead. However, there is no guarantee on the welding to stay strong for impact and last thru long period of time.

2) The "bullet-proof tube"

Yes. Read about it before. Apparently, the tube uses Kevlar composite material, which will virtually create puncture proof environment.

3) Get a pair of new sport rim.

This seems to be the most oblivious means though.

Wow~~ Welding seal of the spoke end.. I never thought of that, how much did that cost you if doing for both rims?

Yes, for once I also heard of Kevlar composite material, heard that is really bullet-proof. You got the web-site to that "bullet-proof" tube?

For no 3 solution... I just don't want to spend a bomb to get a new rim.

For my options, if everthing looks good, I rather look for the "bullet-proof tube", cause that will nearly eliminate the use of tire repair kit..

How about Welding seal the spoke end plus installing of "bullet-proof tube", that will be unbeatable

I still wonder how the fish of the "bullet-proof tube" works..

imagine a nail get into the tire (already pierce into the rubber), & the tip of the nail pierce onto the surface of the special tube, well something must give way, the nail shoot out from the tire due to the inner pressure of the special tube or... the nail bent o_O

I think it'll be either the nail springs out of the tire or it's flattened against the tire

Check this out:

Title: Puncture proof inner tube

Document Type and Number: United States Patent 6418991

Link to this page: http://www.freepatentsonline.com/6418991.html

Abstract: An improved pneumatic tube formed from a semi-rigid, air-tight rubber core encased by a plurality of thin, armoring Kevlar layers bonded to the exterior wall of the core. The composition can be used as inner tubing for cars, bikes, motorcycles, planes, and any kind of vehicle having a pneumatic inner tube. It can also be formed into a puncture proof rubber raft.

1) Ah Yee's method

2) The "bullet-proof tube"

3) Get a pair of new sport rim.

Buy new sports rim.

:btw: what exhaust did you fit for your Dyna?

I can see quite a handful of Vance & Hines exhaust system at Unity or dealership waiting to be installed, that must be real loud but never really heard one before.

The tank bag I use in the signature is quite good, the magnet is quite stong.

150km/h is no problem, this same tank bag I used on my old Z1000, even 200km/h also no problem of worring the tank bag flew away.

But there is a catch~~

For prolong use of this tank bag, sooner or later your fuel tank will have some minor scratch, maybe due to the vibration of the Harley during idle speed or by manual movement of the tank bag while it sits on the fuel tank.

There is a solution by putting a thin fine cloth on the fuel tank before putting the tank bag.. ie: there is a fine cloth (act as a cushion) in between the tank bag & fuel tank, which is good for protecting the fuel tank, yet there is also disadvandage: the power of magnet to the metal is decrease due to the cloth in-between..

You can get this type of tank bag at Lim Ah Boy, last time I get was S$50, remember to try the magnet to see how good it will fit to your fuel tank.. Its good to have one since you don't have saddle bags, easly to use & carry along.

You can also put your phone under the plastic cover as shown, so when there is a emergency call, you will know it by the flashing of your phone. But beware that this tank bag as shown here is not water-proof, under heavy rain the water will soak in, so if you want to take any clothing/electical items along, do keep in a plastic bag first, then put into the tank bag..

The tank bag when bought new, will come along with the tank bag cover, which during rain, you can put the cover on top of the tank bag to prevent water soaking in, but I find it a bit troublesome to fit onto it...

The brand I had here is RJAYS.

Ah Yee's method of converting a spoked rim into being able to take tubeless tires is simple. He just fills the groove where the spoke joins the rim with silicone. From the horses mouth just yesterday.

Ride it like you stole it

Welding is just one of the method and from what Higgo has posted, Ah Yee's method is using silicon, which, I have heard of before too and like I said, there is no assurance for this two methods. If I recall correctly, it will cost me around S$300+ or is it S$500? to get both the front and rear rims welded included change of both tires for my Shadow.

Nope. Another bike shop told me once before and I read it off from another website too.

Well, you still have the tire protection sealant option. As for the puncture proof tube, I read it off that it is more into having a better resistant to puncture rather than 100% proof from sharp objects.

Four wheels move the body. Two wheels move the soul.

Freedom of movements for riding is the best, magnet tank bag will also scratch the paint work. Put everything at rear is all time best.

Way Ah Fai tour with that high bag at front, I am sure already shower and sleeping in bed coming down from Ipoh and he is still at custom.

Sorry, just quoting as an example ...
