Get a charger la, $25 only.

If your battery water dried up, top it up. If it keeps drying, change it, noneed to be the original size, as long as it fits the battery compartment.

How old is the battery?

If it can't hold its charge, chances are its dead. If you have access to a battery refresher, try using it. If it doesn't revive it, then time to change to a new one.

the batt is only a few months old...

i don have a batt refresher... sigh...

Get a voltmeter to check your bike's charging system. I suspect it might be failing.

Same thing happened to me too, rectifier failed, have to push start every morning. New battery will not help.

Kickin to Neutral?

I find it easier to do tat on the move, i.e. while still coasting along before a complete stop, a subtle kick tis all tat is needed to have it in neutral. :)

Unfortunately, not for my case, used to be quite difficult too except that I only need to open throttle abit to be able to engage to netural but now..... i have to turn off the engine to kick to it..... cant figure out y....

gear oil needs changing maybe? A typical sign that it's time to change oil is when switching gears becomes difficult. Just my $0.02. Usually it's a little hard to kick to neutral from a complete standstill. When stopped, i tend to rock the bike a little forward and back using my legs while kicking to neutral, works pretty well for me

If you're referring to a red colour monster 900 apparently i heard that the owner of that bike tried to do a wheelie on his bike and ended up crashing it, destroying one of his high mount pipes in the process. While waiting for a replacement to arrive he is using a traditional low mount exhaust which looks pretty lopsided but hey, it gets the job done :thumb:

Probably the engine oil is overfilled. Check the level.

Hi guys... Here's the sitch...

Charged the batt overnight... bike started ok...

Next day bike started ok...

Put a volt meter over the batt, 12.7V before starting... goes up to 13+++ when revved... so i guess the rectifier is ok...

Turned the bike off, tried to turn it on again... Ignition at OFF, the thing read 12.4V...

the moment the ignition was turned on, it dropped to 8V... could it be the light? I checked out motocafe's bike, his light bulb is different from mine... mine is huge.. like spot light kind... whereas his is small and narrow.. like a big LED... searched online.. and his is the standard H4 bulb i think... whereas mine is huge... got head one... like mushroom... could it be the light thats draining the batt?

From then to now...

k... i opened up my headlight unit...

took out the bulb... its a standard H4 bulb.. the head is just a reflector... so i guess it ain't the bulb...

ran the bike again.. this time no prob... ignition off, 12.6V ignition on, voltage drops 0.01V every second...

but still manages to start... turned it off and it started again no problems... wth...

stupid italian electrics...

a few minutes later tried again, 12.6V with the ignition off... and it starts again this time... the thing din drop down to 8V anymore...

then again, i noticed that the Pole light was broken, literally broken... this time i took it out... but then again, the pole light wouldn't have anything to do with this right?

From then to now...

Something might have partially shorted, causing the battery to drain. Look out for melted wires.

Posted

ok...

i'm officially pissed with the thing...

thought i'd check it again...

same thing happened.. the moment the key was turned, the voltage dropped to 6V-8V...

can anyone tell me what to look out for?

neo: thanks... think tomorrow i'll look for melted wires... sigh...

is it expensive to re-wire the whole bike?

Sols,

I bought wiring loom from eBay UK for S$60 + S$35+ (freight). Used but in good condition, certainly better than what I had. I thought the wiring was the cause of my problem but it was not but at least I eliminated 1 possibility. Narrowed down to fuel starvation but still not sure what causes it - could be fuel pump...

Good luck.

Oh, forgot to mention that a new wiring loom is $900 from Minerva.:giddy:
