anyone tried removing the baffles on their stock muffler for m400? i intend to do mine halfway in. should add more horsepower without installing slip-ons. guess it should be almost legal if we dont overdo it... just a thought

Kallang cycle is doing it on my stock exhaust... Collecting in two weeks time.....

hey h@nn...

U mentioned that removing the baffles will increase the horsepower. Are you sure it will work? i'm asking cos I read on a few websites that all it does is to improve the sound and nothing else.

I wanted to do it myself with help from DucatiSuite.com and http://home.earthlink.net/~desmoduck/muffler_mod.html but decided against it since the only improvement was going to be the sound.

Just curious, how much is KC charging u for the job?

Cheers Ducateers!

Special, think the only place you can get the stock cowl locally is at Minerva. A bit Ex tho i think. Try ebay.

Randy, how much is Michael charging you? I will most likely be doing it also.

Maz... Think it should increase HP if the same concept is applied to cars. If you remove the baffles totally it WILL add a lot of sound and less backpressure therefore less horsepower unless you tune the fuel mixture to compensate for the leanness. Thats why its recommended to remove up to a maximum of 30% only. May still have to tune the fuel/air mix tho. Lets see how Randy's one goes. I'll definitely do it. Just need to find the time..

Dreamed I was a muffler. Woke up exhausted.

i don think he does it la...personnally thinking....but then i might be wrong... I belief the only thing that improves is response and flow, if it adds BHP then all the aftermarket exhaust companies are sleeping liao...

I operated my exhaust on my lancer. Softer sound as compared to aftermarket exhaust. Performance is close, for about $400 less. Sometimes you only pay for the logo.. Just my two cents..

Basically cut open exhaust, remove baffles(restrictors) so your engine breathes better.. ie smoother and better accelleration and theoretically increase bhp. Will look like stock, and depending how you do it, will be little bit noisier or a lot noisier.. Seems like we have a whole bunch here who want to do it, me included.. wanna pool and get better price? Not sure if Seng Kwang will do on a duke tho...

Hi mazlanhasan,

Mike should be able to help you mount the bellypan. Mine doesn't fit as well but he managed to mount it for me.

There's a tiny bit of problem! It does not fit!!! Dammit!

The belly pan I got came from Diopa.com sold at Ducati Salzburg. I tried to fix it last night but it does not fit. Then I visitied Diopa's website and realised that my pan was cut differently from the one they show on their site. I'll post pictures later.

http://www.diopa.com/Shop/images/d0250.gif

Notice the 90 degree cut on the right? Mine is curved all the way up. Post pics tonight. I may need to shave off more before fitting it.

Sigh!

2008 Ducati Monster 695 to be shown at the EICMA in Milan

This is what the 2008 Monster 695 will look like. Probably

http://sameerkumar.blogspot.com/2007/10/2008-ducati-monster-695-to-be-shown-at.html

According to Motociclismo, this is what the all-new Ducati Monster 695 will look like when it’s unveiled at the EICMA in Milan at the end of this month. All of fifteen years old now, the Monster has been in for a radical makeover for some time, but at the same time, Ducati also want to ‘maintain the spirit of the original model,’ in deference to the wishes of Monster fanatics worldwide.

The 2008 Monster 695 will feature a Desmosedici-style tubular steel chassis, twin underseat exhausts and minimalist styling that’s currently in vogue. The current Monster's single-sided swingarm will make way for a conventional dual-arm unit, but the 695 is expected to be lavished with high-spec components – Brembo brakes with radial-mount calipers, multi-adjustable suspension and Bridgestone tyres. There will be no 800 or 900 Monsters, but the 695 will, within a year, have an 1100cc brother – the range-topping 2009 Monster 1100.

Hey h@nn,

Theoretically it all sounds neat and enticing. That was why I wanted to do it but after much reading by duc experts on DML and other sites, I decided against it cos fuel tuning was mentioned does very little but the sound will sure as hell turn heads. You can sample some from YouTube.

As kish said, if this simple tweak can increase HP, it will give exhaust makers a run for their money. At the end of the day, a stock exhaust can only do so much due to its restrictive nature. But hey, don't let me deter your move, make your duc your own and feel the rumble after the baffle is out. You WILL LOVE it! I hope it's legal too :)

Cheers Ducateers!
